Hi folks,

Bought some Swoosh gauges for my car (oil temp and pressure), each gauge has a 5 wire power feed.

The instructions say :

Wiring for ALL SAGA gauges :
RED - Battery +
BLACK -  Ground
BROWN - connect into sidelights or dimmer switch, this is  to lower the gauge illumination at night
ORANGE & YELLOW - On  the ignition switch there are normally 4 key  positions as follows :
  Position 1 - OFF
Position 2 - ACC connect YELLOW wire to  this
Position 3 - ON here there are  2 wires, 1 will have no power when the engine is started
1 will retain power when the engine is started - connect ORANGE to this
   Position 4 - START ENGINE

Im fine with everything except the Orange wire.

What the hell is the position 3 \'ON\', at first i thought it was an ignition wire, but we already have this as the Yellow wire.

Any help

Am I right in saying you put the orange wire on the cable from the "engine cranking" terminal therefore you maintain voltage on the gauge at all times as when it is cranking the auxillary terminal goes dead to ease the stress on the battery.

batman

yes the orange just maintains a power feed while cranking

Awesome :D

Batman - Im sure they arent the best gauges in the world, but the last lot i had off him were within around 0.3% tolerance of a quarterly calibrated snap on gauge, so more than good enough for me. However, they used to be 3 wires not 5, else id know how to wire them!!:rollin

If the boost gauge was that far out it was faulty , hopefully you asked for your money back.

All the best and thanks folks,
