Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a problem I have, being the idiot that I am I bought a set of 3 piece work equip wheels on ebay and were told they would fit an rx7 (95). :Hammer

The problem I have is they don’t go over the centre hub grease cap!!, I measured the gap between the brake disc and the alloy with a set of feeler gauges and the distance is 3.7mm :reallymad

The questions I have, what are my options?

Can I use 5mm spacers on stock studs will it be safe?

Do I remove the centre grease caps and fit another shallower cap?

Do I fit longer studs?

Or just forget the whole idea and resell the alloys!!

HELP! :(

yeah you can just use spacers which is what i have done to get past the centre cap.

It sounds like you haev bought a set of wheels with a centre bore (the hole in the middle) that is too small, and hence won\'t go over the centre of the hub. There are 2 options available to you:

1. As above, use non hubcentric spacers to get you to clear the centre. The largest slip ons you can run on stock studs are around 5mm, but it depends on the thickness of the hub face of the wheel.
2. The better option - get the centre of the wheel bored out to fit (providing there is enough material around it) - I\'ve had this done and it cost me circa a tenner a wheel at a local reputable engineering shop.

Hi Shaq,

Have a look in the back of the wheel in the center bore hole and check there are not spigot adapters that have been pushed in that reduce the size of the hole so they will fit a different car, if not carefully read SiH\'s post
All the best Clive

Hi Clive, yes first thing i did was look at the back of the wheel for a spigot adapter but unfortunatly there is not one fitted.

thanks anyway.

Hi SiH

I did contemplate machining the centre bore to a slightly larger diameter that would prob be a safer option I guess, its just something about spacers that I don’t like !, maybe I am just being paranoid I just picture me going down the road all my wheels will come off or something ! :3Confused

thanks
