just wondered what everyone uses in there rotor motor!
i always stick Super in when a track day or drag racing but stick to normal for most of the time, however call me mad i still had 1/4 tank of super and im sure it lasted longer?!
beside that what is better for the motor?

The cheapest, I was once told you could run a rotary engine on almost anything combustible .............

I\'ve done a few computer checks on consumption a few years back in a C Class Petrol Merc with a smallish engine and I was getting 10% more miles for a 5% extra outlay.

Later an investigation on TV showed that little stressed out engines do give that sort of improvement and big dollopy lazy engines don\'t show much improved mileage at all.

In the FB, codgering about, I try and get V Power when I\'m near a Shell Station, not least \'cos I think the refining will be better than the Supermarkets.....I\'ve no proof of this though, just a hunch.

Fifth gear did a test on performance & mpg on an array of cars using the \'best petrols\' & the cheapest petrols.
No difference what so ever, just a marketing con.
I use the cheapest petrol whatever car i drive, dont matter if its v8\'s or rotaries makes naff all difference.

I do remember seeing that although higher octane must mean a cleaned bigger bang?

When the fb was produced there wasn\'t super unleaded ! You should be ok with standard stuff on a NA setup. I\'m running LPG but that is another deal :D

Dont know if this link will work shows 5th gear testing fuel octane additives, all claimed to increase power by 5>10%,ALL made the engines produce 2>6% LESS power..

Myth about octane fuel additives.
ALL claim to increase power by 5>10%

ALL lost engine power by 2>6%

Tests done by 5th gear...

shaunwil

That was done with an efi setup though. There is no change in fuel metering on a carb with change in octane.

Now then, a colleague of mine works for a 3rd Party Quality Assessment company who carried out an assessment at Shell research laboratories.  Having seen the data demonstrating that V Power products actually provide extra mpg he tried it out, I\'ve tried it out too and guess what - it works.  On a run I found that I was getting approx 10% more mpg than I was using conventional fuel.  The additives help clean the engine and give overall improved performance for a slight increase in cost.
Whilst I also tend to agree with others for using the cheapest fuel, fortunately for me the cheapest supplier in my area is Shell, so I benefit alround.
