For you mate if it\'ll get you on the road again you can just have it. If I have one that is!
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

cheers lee, just rang them and the engine is gone.

just wondering if its possible to make one up with silicone hoses?

Liam,

Which hose has gone ?

I see you\'re using the Series 4 water neck - with the filler cap on it.  Are you after the small hose from BAC to water pump neck or the big one ?

Bad luck that you\'re still having problems, but I think it\'s likely you had an air lock and maybe some local boiling / air pressure buildup.  I reckon after a fill and bleed a couple of times it will be fine.

Dave.

thanks dave.
its the smaller hose from bac to water pump / neck bit. about 10mm ID.

i went to local motor place and brought a straight bit and twisted it round a bit to fit.
tired to burp the system ( water cap off let run for 5/10 mins, water temp went to 50 degs c then turn off and let it cool a bit then topped up. repeated.)
no air comes out when cap off and engine running.
its just water in there no coolant as there was a littlle leak from a threaded jubilie clip which has not been replaced.

thinking if i know how to burp the system properly then i will flush out and fill with water/coolant mix.

i have the heater turned to hot and low fan (should be same as high fan?)
will top up again once its cooled and go for a spin, hopefully i wont be waiting for a tow truck again.

*off to look for the thread about burping the system incase i missed somehting*

ps: ade, dont need the hose now, thousand thanks :)

I find it can help to jack the front of the car up - as the heater matrix hoses are quite high and a good place for an airlock to happen ;)

Also - make sure the expansion tank is at the max fill level - and the hose to it is on tight - the hose goes onto the centre pipe in the expansion tank, which should be in the liquid - when the system cools, it creates a small vacuum that draws coolant back in to fill it.  If it runs low, it can suck air back into the system.

cool thanks dave, will try that before i go for a spin.
will cable tie the hose to expansion tank.
water in expansion tank is at max ans not moved. maybe as you say it is sucking up air as the hose fits but not tight fit.

done blitzboy\'s patented burping
"warm it up ,cap off,so it then opens up the thermostat approx 78 degrees, water will start to gush out then switch off top up, wait 5 minutes, repeat about three or four times"

and had to refill about 3.5 ltrs. bit more than usual non burping.
going for a spin to sainsburys now to have a test :)

Haha was considering calling out search and rescue for a minute. Good luck with tomorrow-I won\'t be able to make it unfortunately as I\'ve hired a digger for my garden and need to get my money\'s worth!

Went for a run today and got to point B but didnt make it back to point A on its own steam. FC overheated and started peeing out water, which contained oil, a lot of oil! so seems a seal / gasket has gone and oil is contaminating the cooling system.

NOT A HAPPY BUNNY!! :(

AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude can\'t tuner 1 get anything right? I take it he will honour any warranty on the engine. Hopefully he will let you take it somewhere else to be fixed.

There is a chance that you\'ve a cracked turbo (CHRA) - and that \'s where the oil is getting in - but given track records I\'m not so sure - hope to god it\'s not the engine mate.

dthebuk

this is rediculous. TBH I\'d try and get the tuner to pay for another rotary builder to do it.

feel so sorry for you mate!!
