ok i have had nothing but grief from my 1993 fd3s since febuary.
I started making a knocking noise and pouring out black smoke so i took it down to hayward rotary and they diagnosed that the front stationary gear bearing was gone. So over the last week i have taken the engine out and rebuilt it which was a fun job replased everything that was needed.

Now it keeps flooding so i pull started it earlier and it started up and run for 10 mins to get everything warm and it was pouring out white smoke then i turned it of and it wont start again i have had enough now just want it back on the road is white smoke fuel or water ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

cyman

white smoke ia water mate

cush

i put all new seals in what could be the issue

cush

could it be flooding as everytime i take the spark plugs out they are covered in fuel and with the spark plugs out when i turn it over using the deflood procedure it pours fuel vapour out of the holes just seeing if its worth changing the injectors before rebuilding it again?

JohnP

white smoke could only be water surely? same as when a head gasket goes on conventional 4pots.

DR SCHNITZEL

It\'s water. Rebuild again. ?

It is possible that a seal has got trapped by moving out of the groove that it should be in during rebuild.

ok there is now oil in the intake manifold near the butterfly valves could this all just be turbos ?

cush

ok further inspection on the turbo side of the ic pipes there is some oil residue on the intake side of the ic pipes there is no oil i have a front mount by the way behind the lower butterfly valve is a lot of oil behind the top butterfly valves there is not a lot how could oil get up there if the oil control rings have been changed and the turbos are ok ? Sorry for all the questions just dont know what to replace now maybe my white smoke was a bit blue indicating oil?

HaywardRotary

It could be turbo\'s yes,are you actually losing coolant?

i had it running for 5 mins when it was pumping smoke out and the water level had gone down by 1/4 of a litre but this was the first time i had started it since putting the engine back in so i guess it would go down a little bit any way once it gets rid of a air lock
