Single Turbo?

Hi,

Just wondering if any of you people can help with a couple of q\'s.

I\'m being offered from a friend a single fd with the following spec; what would you guys make of it? Hows the turbo size?

Also, what would put the fuel consumption down to on a single fd?


TD06-25G Turbo
Engine rebuilt 2000 km\'s ago and thats when turbo conversion and mods took place.
No repairs done
5 Spd MT
Mazda Speed Twin Bosch pump 850cc injector
West Gate Apex Intercooler
Apex Radiator
Power FC
FC Commander
Tein Height adjuster
Boost Meter
Plug cord NGK
Profec B - spec ...Boost can be set to 1,2 Commander.
Commander Lock not put but can be put later
Boost Meter White Thrust
Catalyst Air Pump etc not available
HP never measured but probably 430 to 450
Brakes are after market
Diff maybe normal torsen

Basically, I have a stock twin turbo with stage 1 mods at present, but looking for something that would gve the likes of scooby wr1\'s fq330\'s a run for its money.

Sounds like a nice motor. The TD06 is a good turbo that can handle a lot of crap.

I would get a compression check done first.

Would you consider it a risk without a compression test, as it may be hard to do? It has had a recent rebuild.

Also, is the life span of the engine shortened significantly by running a single?

If anything an engine *should* last longer with a properly mapped single, as it produces less heat.

Single turbos generally go hand in hand with raised boost though = engine lasts not as long properly mapped or otherwise. You said it was running 1.2bar freddy? - thats not low boost really is it...

Sorry, its all been translated from Jap. Says boost can be set till 1.2 bar. So, I\'m assuming its not set at that, or if it is, can it be easily set to run at lower bar of boost? Whats the norm setting of boost on a single?

I\'m really also, after knowing that the above mods are reliable.
