Hi Folks

Ibought this turbo 2,its sat for at least 5 years.

One of the issues is the headlights work, but dont pop up, one moved an inch up and then froze and wont go up or down now.

I cant see any fuses for lights let alone light motors.

Also, the battery seems to drain over a few hrs, now ive noticed that even with the key out of the ignition, something that i cant decipher, but is coming from around the pass side pop up motor, is making a clicking  whirring noise. So im guessing this is draining the battery.

What to do:3Confused

Hi Mark,

The headlight motors and mechanism can and will stick if left for a long time.

The fuse for the retractor motor is in the rectangular fusebox in the engine bay - I think it\'s the end one - in any case it\'s a 30A fuse marked \'retractor\' - pull that and the motors are isolated (you\'ll need to do this for 2 reasons - 1 - the battery is flattening because the motor can\'t \'home\' the light, 2 - you don\'t want the motors on when you manually move the lights.)

So once you\'ve pulled the fuse - if you get underneath the car with a hand you\'ll find 2 rubber caps (one each side) that cover a gear - this is the hand winding mechanism that let\'s you lower/raise the lights by hand. It\'s not a nice mechanism - if you\'ve got some gloves I\'d use them - and never turn these things with the motors connected otherwise it will strip the skin off your finger for sure !

If you can get the lights up - you\'ll see there\'s some white capped ball/socket joints on the mechanism - you can pop these out - clean the old grease off and regrease with fresh - that will go along way to freeing the mechanism. If that doesn\'t do it - the motors are mounted on the mechanism by 3 bolts - you can undo them and pop the control rod off (white ball joint thing) and test the motor turns - there\'s an oiling hole as well - give it a drop or two.

Aside from that - they are just fiddly ;)

Good luck with it :)

for the headlights see if you can manually move the lights up and down.  the headlight motors have a knob you can turn to move the headlights up and down.  the knob points down under the bumper area.  find out if the motor is junk or not

Cheers boys, well the passenger side one now works fully up and down, the drivers goes down perfectly, but wont go up, if i give it a helping hand (dang my thumb hurts) itll go up from half way.

I\'ve a headlight motor for sale at the moment if yours turns out to be goosed.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

My drivers side one went the same way - there\'s a switch inside the gearbox on the end of the motor - and it get\'s crud or water in it - knackers the contacts.  The switch is what tells the motor to wind up or down depending on where it is.
