Hi folks,

I usually join the owners clubs when ive had a car i enjoy for a while, my last one was an evo. Benefits were things like reduced track day rates, 25% discount with Pace Ward insurance,  Monthly magazine etc etc.

I had a look on here and for £30 apparently
QuoteThere are numerous benefits

  • Forum access is instant
  • Renewal reminders
  • PayPal payments are now linked directly to your forum account  (no more guessing!)
  • Begin to move away from the intensive January renewal rush
  • True one year rolling club membership
Is this just confusingly worded or is there really zero benefit of paying the £30 except that ill be able to use the site as i can now, ill have the benefit of being reminded to pay another £30, i can pay that £30 much more easily (thank goodness), i wont have to squeeze through all those other benefit chasers in January, and i have a one yr membership.

Where do i sign??

Hehe, but in all seriousness, where are the benefits? I found another section entitled Benefits of membership, and it was threadless!!

Free Entrance to Brooklands spring meet (that\'s about £7 now)
Reduced ticket prices to Japfest, Japshow, Rotorstock, Japshow Finale (at least a £5 saved there each time - £20
Subsidized Christmas MRC Christmas Meal - can\'t remember if it\'s £5 or £10 saved
Money off on track day events
Discount on Insurances
Discount on AA membership
Access to Members only areas...

Actually if you do go to the shows or track days - you can probably recover your membership back easily :cheers

But it\'s not really about that... :cool

gives you some of the benefits.....

There are a host of others which have been added things like reductions from Mazda on certain products and various other discounts with a number of rotary-related businesses.

You could look at it a different way.

I\'m not very clever when it comes to rotaries so I come on here seeking help and advice that is freely given.

For this help and advice I\'m more than happy to contribute to the running of the site.

If no one joined - there would be no club for \'guests\' to access.

It may be an old fashioned attitude but if I get something out I expect to put something in.

Hi Mark,

Along with many other benefits that would include seeing the members section and more of the site plus agreed valuations offered to protect the value of your car etc, if you like Track Days we are running our own "track day season" this year with two gone and two to go and we have given each member taking part £20 towards these events.

"If" a club member wishes to take full advantage of his or her club membership by coming to events with MRC you will save your £30 joining fee again and again and again.

Hope this helps

There have been many years when the Club cost me nothing annually as I got money back from different events.
Just one Track event is generally £20 paid for by the Club, I attend RotorStock every year which is about £5-8. and there are lots more.
As a matter of fact you can get paid for by being a member if you partake in just a few things... ;)

But generally how I look at it is, if I can\'t afford to pay 56 pence a week then I should not own a Rotary or any Car for that matter, I probably shouldn\'t even have Computer to surf forums on the net, Oh the net, can I afford Internet? Could I afford Electricty for said PC to surf on?
8p a day???  seriously need to check yourself if you need to question that...

Hi Mark,

I think you\'re looking at the benefits of the new membership renewal system that we introduced this year rather than the benefits of membership itself (we used to renew all membership at the start of the year).

As stated above you do get really good discounts off a lot of things including track days and events like Rotorstock this weekend - so well worth it. :Thumbs-up

No offence intended, but thats pedant worship if ever i saw it. Paying something purely because you can is nonsensical. Im joining to support the running of it. Not just because i have 8pence a day.

If i went by that logic id be feeding starving children across the globe. As it goes id much rather put fuel in my tank.:spank

Thanks for all the info guys :-)

If thats what you take of my comments, it goes together with your questioning of the fees...  :2Rolleyes

Best of luck with your future postings...

Sorry, this is the problem with t\'internet, its hard to convery manarism or humour. Im possibly the most pedantic but also lighthearted sarcastic idot youd ever dislike to meet. Please dont take me seriously, but with a pinch of humoured Saxa.

All the best,
