Hi guys
At the risk of being tormented :wiggle , recently picked up a stock turbo 2 for road and track. I have a friendly MOT tester who although is overkill on anything to do with safety (suits me fine) isnt a strong believer in emissions.

What can i remove from my FC engine to do with emmissions ? Just looks so crowded in there and its only a little rotary.

for a start of you can junk the air pump and all associated stuff

you could put an elec fan in - that frees up LOADS of space

Depends on whether you\'ve a cat on the exhaust still or not.

If you decide on a catless exhaust system, and can spend a bit of time fettling around with the car before MOT\'s then you can get shot of:

Air pump (top right pulley as you look at front of car)

Air Control Valve assembly that sits on the side of the engine above the turbo - as it\'s not doing much once the air pump is gone.  This requires block off plates when removed otherwise you\'ll have massive vac leaks.

The Relief pipe, silencer (anti moo device) and the muffler behind and under the drivers side headlight - this is just for exhausting air from the air control valve - the rubber pipe from the ACV runs alongside the edge of the engine bay

Split air pipe - metal pipe that runs from behind the ACV to the cat

Once youve ditched that lot, there\'s a lot of vacuum lines that no longer do anything - and their associated solenoids - you can clean up all those if you want.  Do a search on here for FC3s vacuum diagram - or if you have no luck - same search over on rx7club.com

You can also simplify the air induction system - get rid of the air filter box, air feed pipe on the radiator, and the twin 90 degree bendy air hose into the turbo and make a much simpler induction - be careful where you are getting you\'re air from - the stock system does feed cold air to the engine - so you want to make sure you\'re replacement can do the same.

Viscous fan - go electric - gets more space in the engine bay.

That\'s pretty much it unless you are going to do some serious modding and run an aftermarket ECU - as it gets pretty hard to fool the stock one past a certain point.  Further mods may sacrifice driveability for day to day use anyway.:Laugh

You can also get rid of the power steering pump/bracket etc. People use an electric pump out of a saxo/106 and hide it under the passenger headlight. Thats if you want to keep the power steering. You can also remove the ABS pump useing a kit from the US. Think its about $30-$40. Basically its a block of ally that you run your brake pipes to. It replaces the ABS pump. Then there is also the air filter/box. Whip that out and stick an aftermarket filter on.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)
