sick rx-7

posting here for my dad(he is completly computer illerate)

he has a gen 2 turbo 2 cab, and its not right at all. the car was involved in a crash and was repaired and the car ran ok after this for a bit, then one day it died and never started on the key again. however it will start with a push.(wont start even with new battery.) the car ran extremly rough and would not idle.then started to spit flames out the exhaust constantly(not a split second pop) The car needs to be back on the road soon. Does anyone have any ideas what the story is.We have done a compression check and every thing was fine.

The car is here in ireland and no one really know anything about the rotary so we have  conclueded the car will need to be trailered to U.K.
Who would be able to do work on it. rebuild ect.

I am no expert but it sounds like a cat to me, hopefully a simple exhaust change. I wonder of the jar has buggered the cat.

There are a couple of RX7\'s running in Ireland so there must be someone there that can do it.

Hopefully some rom Ireland will post.

Definite possibility it being the cat!!!!!Have you modified anything since it last ran?Checked the obvious things first? -  removed/checked spark plugs?Oil/water ok?Oil smells like petrol?What were the compression results?When the car was running was it used mainly for short journeys?What happens when you crank - does it try to fire or not?Stink of petrol?What colour are the flames/smoke from exhaust?Did it stop running while driving or next day come to start it and nothing?

Hi, I live in Limerick and have a 1st Gen rx-7. As far as I know there is a guy in Belfast who deals with rotaries. But I don\'t have a name or number....my source for this is all a bit vague.

Mine needs a rebuild and I\'ve got the local Mazda dealer offering to do it for me. I just don\'t know if I trust them enough to let them at it!
