Quick update:

Took the carb apart yesterday cleaned it out real good with some carb cleaner, re-assembled put back onto the engine turned on the fuel pump and had the same issue.....stuck float.... so we pulled the fuse on the pump and started her up.....sounded a bit sketchy was only running on one rotor. Gave her a bit of a rev and it appears to have helped clear the stuck float issue, along with the rev the second rotor came into life and was running lovely(ish :D)

the engine was flooded massively from before i got the car, so when we tried to clear out any flooding issues we found about a pint of fuel in the actual exhaust mid section and found that the flange around the exhaust hedders were leaking fuel (wern\'t titened up) so got all that sorted. Was just a quick summary of what\'s happened. will upload pictures when i get home tonight.

Today\'s plan\'s are to fill up the coolant system, let her run for 30 minutes or so to get upto temp and clear and condensation/fuel out of the exhaust system.

Cheers
Ross

Tried merging my threads but cant find the edit button.

So heres a quick update from a bit of work done yesterday.

We started by stripping the interior ready for my mate to get the  welding done some time soon (hoping before the end of the month)

As you can see the hole is quite noticable

Are these speakers standard? got a great sound for 26 year old ones :)

De-sepoilered ready to be properly re-attached as it was completely loose.

Tiny bit better photo of the troubled area

Well all in all it was a great day, sun shining and working on the car.
Steve and Ian did most of the work so cheers guys!. We got the electric windows working a treat as we previously had thought the motor\'s were gone, Ended up being loads and loads of crap in the actual switches. So with a bit of cleaning the windows now go up and down perfectly every time.

Time to get the welding done and bushings (are there any kits available for rear end refurb?

Thanks.

Doesn\'t look to be a bad car Ross....Seen photos on various sites of much worse rear arch rot than that. Looks fairly good at the front end too.

I\'ve never had a window motor fail in 20 years of various FB daily drives and then another 6 years occasional use only. So I\'m not surprised that they still work.

There are poly bush kits and rubber bush kits available....I\'ve never renewed any but plenty of guys on here are expert at it (and there\'s threads about removing the old bushes as well).

A good buy this car methinks...

Welcome aboard :D

Make sure you plate both sides of the rust, its quite structural and I noticed a huge improvement when it was repaired !

Got a bit more work done today with as you guessed it help from Steve and Ian (once again....i say help, they did all the work) Cheers guys :)

Started the day off with heading upto Steve\'s with Ian and getting his subframe put back on.

We then headed off to see the FB and start work on dropping the diff ready for refurb and welding.

Here it is in standard location

With a bit of work started we got most things removed. (bolts wernt as much of an issue as we had originally thought)

Money shot

In the air

Diff on the floor

Anyone know what the B is for on the diff housing?

And finally leaving the car as it stands today.

Very Good, Thanks again Ross. As before, that back Chassis ain\'t too bad.

One thing though (2 Things Really). I\'d bag those calipers up tightly against rain getting in and if you\'ve not already done so make sure they\'re not hanging on the flexes.

As a matter of interest, I change all my brake fluid EVERY 2 or 3 years. That way there\'s never a seized caliper or seal failure. (25 years so far). The wife now has NVQ level 3 in pedal pressing during the job....You might want to bleed everything as it goes back together?

David,

The idea is to refurb pretty much everything, It needs new brake lines anyway, thinking about replacing hard lines also. Need to get polybush kit from somewhere for the whole rear suspension set up, Braided lines in place of the perished flexi\'s. Good point on wrapping the calipers, I\'ll see if i can get that done ASAP.

springs have a lot of surface rust on so may wirewheel them whilst i do the diff, then a nice thick coating of black hammerite (or maybe orange :P )

Will update the thread as i get more done, Thanks again for the tips.

It\'s the only chance to shout at her Cliff. Windows down on both sides so she gets a good  earful.....Then the commands.....\'DOWN FAST\'...\'HOLD IT\'.....\'BACK UP\'......\'DOWN SLOW\'....\'HOLD IT\'.....\'HOOOLD IT I SAID!!!!!\'....\'BACK UP\'....and so on.

She glowers at me whilst I\'m shouting but it\'s my domain this so she has to go along with it....In the house its a different regime!
