Hi guys need a bit of advice as I\'m new to owning a 1st gen. I recently picked her up and discovered it has a stainless power flow back box fitted which gives it a nice sound however the noise is a little too loud for me and I wanted to keep her looking as original as possible. Correct me if I\'m wrong but would the car have been fitted originally with a twin pipe back box and if so where should I look to purchase one ?, (either new or second hand).

Hi Ossie
They did come with twin pipes, but were all made of mild steel so they rusted away, I still have an original back box on mine, but I got that new some 15 years ago when Mazda were selling them off, but fitted only last year. I\'m told that if I ever have to replace mine I will have to have one made as the only ones off the shelf come from the USA or Aus.
Thats is unless any of the others on here know otherwise.
Good luck

I have a twin exit exhaust, it is stainless, by racing beat. It\'s a bit quiet for me...

The best idea is to get a full stainless system  ( or just a back box if that\'s all you need off a breaker).

My black car has a stainless system but uses the factory back box.... I prefer the look of the factory back box and also like the sound this combination gives me.... I lose the power sapping emission junk like the air pump but retain the stock look.

My red car has a full stainless system made by \'double S\' ,front to back.
It does the job but I don\'t really like the look of the tailpipes. Looks a bit \'aftermarket\' to me.

Mine just has one tail pipe but is very loud and gets alot of heads turning. May be I\'m just getting old.
