How much knock is too much?

Hi RX7

I think one of my local Shell garages has a duff batch of V-Power because after I filled up there the knock registered on the Apexi seems to be noticeably higher than usual. Under load the bar goes briefly to about half way but only when I use this garage once its run out and I use the other stations it seems to not read so high.
Is there an average or acceptable reading for this.

Ive read that anything over 60 is real knock.

I get knock of 160 when driving mate each knock sensor is diferent if your car is corectley mapped to the mods fitted then there is nothing to worry about, but if your concerned about the fuel at that shell I would write to them and explain if only for your piece of mind

Hi RX7

I\'m positive its this one station going to fill up today at one I know has been o.k.

Knock sensors are notorious for giving high readings when old.
As long it running fine don\'t worry.

Hi RX7

Thanks I guess I should get it checked out just in case but perhaps not in such a panic

hey carl, can you get new knock sensors from mazda/yourself, are they still manufactored?

The OEM knock sensors go a lot, as said.
My record is 130, and I got similar readings a lot. Engine was fine for a year after that, and when teared down showed no knock related damage.
