Ours is full Carbon.  I have a seibon one from being on my old car, and they are chalk and cheese :)

johnnymolloy

i have seen the seibon one and from wat i read on other forums there not great in terms of fitment

just wonderin atomic rex can your rear hatch still use the original heated glass window and boot latch

AtomicRex

Yes you can fit the standard latch to it...but why would you want to fit the heated glass?  I dont see a reason why you cant...other than half of the weight is in the screen.

Rotary_Menace

Last time I read up on carbon hatch\'s they were not able to hold up to the force exerted by big wings without having some king of support structure underneath, has this now changed?

Neil

AtomicRex

I doubt even a standard hatch is able to support the downforce of a proper wing.

try two tests....
1. grab the wing and move it back and forth...they move thus generating drag over downforce.
2. offer to stand on the wing!  and then see if your mate can come up on the wing also.  If they cant offer a minimum of 70-80kgs then they aren\'t offering much use!

We don\'t attach to the centre of the hatch..as you rightly say, they aren\'t strong enough...so instead attach to the edge where the braces are in the corners.

i understand what your sayin atomic rex about the window just i would like to have it road legal as im not sure of the legality of lexan on a car in ireland

i have read even with the normal glass you can still save about 7kgs over the standard hatch is this true

just out of curiosty can you get a heated rear lexan window

I dont think you need worry about the legal side of the windows.  They are built to MSA standard, and so can compete in road racing...so I doubt it would be a problem.  You do save an awful amount going with the lexan window and keep the standard hatch...but they dont look as good as a carbon one ;)

As for lexan heated....I dont think it is possible.
