Morning folks :wave ,

I\'ve just purchased my first RX7 FD. Looking forward to picking it up this week but have a couple of questions.

My door handles are pretty scratched up and I could do with pinging them off and giving them a quick spray over but in the short time I was with the car at the weekend I couldn\'t see how to remove them. Any clues...

Also, how do I get to the ECU - I need to know whether it\'s original or aftermarket as the car has a Blitz nur spec exhaust system and Blitz air filters and I reckon that it should have an aftermarket ECU to prevent it running lean (I could be wrong  though)

Sorry for the dumbed down questions I am new to these beasties. I did a search and either I need more practice at searching or there\'s nothing on here on how to do it  :)

Many thanks

Pull the plastic cover off the inside of the handle - should be obviuos from there.

ECU - left hand side of passenger footwell, remove door jam cover (couple of screws) and the footwell trim to which the 2 small brackets for the emergency flare are attached (a few of those delightful mazda trim fixings that you snap your nails off trying to remove hold it in place). ECU will be bolted to body behind this.

Cheers Rich,

looks like I\'ll be fiddling with the car over the bank holiday...

They do get a bit scratched, I\'ve just done mine last weekend:-

1) Remove interior cover trim (corner triangle),
mine just pulled off (no screws).

2) Undo the two 10mm nuts .

3) Pull handle towards you to reveal the internals.

4) Undo retaining clip from key lock mechanism.

5) Undo locking bar clip (you will see the bit I mean).

6) Drivers side door had a cable running to a bulb, this just pulls out.

7) Thats it the door handles off.

Hope it goes OK, I rubbed the paint down and then used primer filler as an undercoat and finished with four coats of gloss black.  They do look good now but its all in the preperation.
:D

edited to say; just realised you were in the Rutland area, if you get stuck I only live just up the road in Corby!;)

Gareth,

Sorry, a bit late on this one!

I\'m actually in Wymondham, I always say Rutland cause I\'m near Rutland Water and no one has heard of Wymondham and not many have heard of Melton but most seem to know where Rutland is!

Is your\'s the white one I\'ve seen knocking around Asfordby once or twice...

All the best
