Hello,

i just picked up my first RX7 late last night, its nice an standard with a rebuilt engine so i can do what i want with it :) ive toned down from a stripped out BDC drift 200sx so i do like abit of sideways action :)

but driving it back i found the seat belt was abit loose on my shoulder and wasnt retracking all the time, is this common and just needs abit of WD40 or is it better off replacing it

Now for the silly bit, i was playing about with it (being a little drifter and all) and overcooked it and nudged it up a kerb... now on boost it makes a boost leak noise and doesnt have as much power but still idles fine... when i lost a boost hose on the 200 it would stall...

it was dark so couldnt get a good look but i will abit later on...

Cheers guys
Alex

my seat belt does the same - strange as i know another rex owner who drivers seatbelt does it as well...

i put it down to coincidence but now theres 3 of us ... strange feature perhaps? or all just faulty seatbelts lol

EDIT: forgot to mention - if you just unclick it and click it in again without letting it retract, it releases this "lock" and tightens up. (another reason why i dont think its a fault)

my belt is the same but mine will re tension its self, if you want me to take a look at the car give me a shout.

On mine there is a small black electrical connector under the drivers seat, if you unplug this it makes the seatbelt keep tension like any other car, so pretty sure this is intended. I\'ve always quite liked this feature.

That electrical connection is purely to detect whever the seat belt is in use the seat belt tensioner is completely mechanical and has no electronics at all from what i remember.

I\'ve found all cars of that age don\'t have the best belt tensioning i don\'t think it is a fault.

Well I know on mine the seat belt will stay in the "loose" position when driving and then when I either turn off the engine or press the seat belt release button the seat belt will immediately tighten and retract so there must be some electrical interaction for this to happen.

I could be wrong because it has been over a year since i had that panel off the car but i only remember it as being a standard seat belt mechanism like the back seat ones.

hmm, well so long as it works in a bump i dont mind too much... but i do drift and id like something thats gonna keep me in one place

P.S. boost leak sorted top pipe off the turbos came off... the hose looks abit warn inside, can i use some normal silicon hose there or does it get too hot?

i think id like some better heat management as it quite toasty under the bonnet even after a light drive...

I suppose it could be some cars had this feature and some didn\'t. Mine is a Type X so had all the extras.

yea i can second that... so it cant be a fault as so many of us have the exact  same "feature", and only on this car.

vinnyninja

mine 2 clip it in and when i move a bit stays a little lose ... then give it a pull and it snaps back in ... i like it  ....

and the bottom hose on the first turbo came of 3 times on me ... just need some decent clamps:mad:

seat belts are meant to do this, its a comfort thing, passenger side is the same
