Gents,

Ive been using Castrol GTX mineral 10w40 since I got my FD.  I understand now that Castrol are no longer making this.  What 10w40 mineral oil do you guys use?

Also - I notice some are using fully synthetic when using premix.  Is that exclusively without the OMP, or just a personal preference?  Ive still got the OMP, but erring towards using a 400:1 premix just to be safe.  If I did this would a synthetic oil be okay?

Cheers mate! Anyone else got a preference?

i\'ve always used 5w40 fully-synthetic from Silkolene/Motul (even before ditching my OMP for premix). premix is the way forward i think, it solves having to compromise on oil; running mineral oil through the turbo system doesn\'t sound like a good idea to me and you don\'t have to worry about the fully-synthetic-big-carbon-chunks scare mongering.

I was in a local Morrisons Filling Station the other day and they had Havoline Mineral oil for £9.99 per 4 or 5 litres. I\'m stocked up or I would have bought some for the 12A.
(Used it in the past no probs).
Then there\'s the old favouite Duckhams....Getting a bit harder to find though these days. Used to be everywhere.

Is the havoline any good then David? I put in Halfords, as I was looking to do a fast change, the car had been standing, so I thought I\'d put some fresh oil in for a few hundred miles, then change it again, just to help flush out the old stale stuff.

Well it\'s been around for a long time, seems to be a Texaco product. What caught my eye was \'Mineral Oil\'.
I didn\'t have time in the Morrisons queue to get the viscosity rating but I\'ve used it in previous years....I think it was also on sale for £9.99 about 5 or 6 years back. Might be on special offer. I\'d buy it again if the viscosity was 15 40 or 10 40.

(But I\'m a wimpy street runner, 3500 revs and I think I\'m killing it)!

lol, i guess the FB doesn\'t have a buzzer.

not sure about the FC, but on an FD you get an angry beeping noise when you hit 8,500rpm.

I can honestly say though that the buzzer on my FB has never been sounded. Is that very bad?
