Gday all,

The abs on my car has never worked since I\'ve had it. The abs light used to stay on but now doesn\'t not sure if I pulled the led some years ago or not.
I now have the ksport big brake kit on the fronts and stock brakes setup on the rear, I also have the 929 brake cylinder conversion. My brakes feel crap to me. Pedal is pretty stiff but not strong enough bite when you press the brakes. I would say stock brakes felt better to me. As the abs doesn\'t work should I have it troubleshooted and repair or should I just ditch the abs system completely, it is predominately a road. I\'m not sure if the abs not work contributes to lack of bite when pressing the brakes or not.

Hello Brian,

The ABS system will not contribute to the pedal assistance in any way as the ABS only comes into effect when the brakes are trying to lock the wheels

In other words it may as well get ditched if you have gone this far.

A DoT inspector told me that if an ABS system is removed from a car it\'s not an MOT failure.

Unfortunatly it sounds like the piston bore to master cylinder ratio is wrong,

One area to explore is to look at a soft pad like a Hawk HP+ as this will give some initial bite and better pedal feel.

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

Cheers Clive,

Also I have ksport brake pads up front and stock pads at the rear. Is it possible my front rear bias is a bit messed up by this?

Have you bled the system properly?

It\'s amazing how much difference bleeding the system makes.

im with clive....get different pads...i think they use the same pad shape as AP and get a bias valve...rebleed with 5.1 and you should be cool.......also check the calipers to make sure no pistons are sticking.
