Is it worth getting a walbro fuel pump? do they make much difference performance wise? ;)

keep stock unles unless over 400fwhp i have been told, walbro is tiny (i run one) just do a pump rewire.

Just because it\'s physically small, doesn\'t mean it\'s bad  ;)

They won\'t make a difference just by fitting one (although it may overpower the stock FPR and make it run rich) but give you a potential for more fuel if needed.

I ran one for a year with no issues at all, it did the job much better than a re-wired stock pump - stock twins at just under a bar.

In what way did it do a "much better job"? I run one and was told i should go back to stock and to be honest i cant be bothered changing it now theres too much else to do. I know the stats are different but what real world tests have been done. I suppose for 50 quid you cant go wrong.

The Walbro pump is a good pump, im running one, I know people want a Bosch 044 as there is extra fuel flow at higher fuel pressure, the Walbro pump allows more fuel at lower pressure.

Don\'t forget that the OEM pump has been in there for 10 years or more etc, so its best to replace it. I know someone who lost their Subaru engine due to the pump failing and the engine running lean, they changed the fuel pump and got loads of extra power as there was actually fuel going into the engine :rollin

will i gain eny power with a new pump or a rewire? only mods i have is twin air filter/straght through exhaust/ bigger stock mount intercooler so would i get eny gains from it? cheers for the help.

Not really - if the fuel pressure regulator is doing it\'s job - a new pump or rewire won\'t add any more fuel.  What it DOES do is guarantee the fuel is going to be there at the top end of boost/rpm - which is where your aging stock pump and wiring may well let you down.  Also, Mazda didn\'t leave much headroom for upping the boost - so the stock pump will not let you safely go much higher on boost.
