Easy (dumb) question;
is the windscreen bonded? As I bought my car without a \'screen & with filler and paint up the pillars it\'s hard to tell! Also, I seem to be missing the small central joining piece for the 2 top cover trims, can anyone recommend a supplier for this piece?
Cheers,
Steve

Not sure about the screen mate but try rxmotors for the trim clip they\'re near blandford but he does post stuff from his aladdins cave.

Yes bonded in, and an absolute nightmare to get one out without breaking it.

I second that.....a couple of hours gently working at it.....then splat.

You may need a professional new fit job??? Don\'t quite know how you\'ll deal with this problem??

i pulled a screan out easy enough, just got a tool for the job took my time and it cam straight out

I spent 2 hrs the other week carefully trying to get the bonded screen out of my series 3 and then cracked the b*****d.
If it\'s already been replaced at some time you may have a chance but the original factory screens are a nightmare to get out in one piece.

to be fair this was a new screen that had only been in about 12 months its spent longer in the garden now then it did on the car!

Thanks for all the replies, especially the clips link. Looks like an insurance job then as I don\'t fancy traveling the UK\'s scrapyards busting \'screens as I go!

AtomicRex

I can supply one of these for you if you like?

I was thinking about doing a group buy on heated screens for the FB?  Would this interest anyone??  I would need 10 people to make it viable.

Screens are £205 each (+VAT)  But if your screen is damaged then I am able to replace the screens under insurance

Steve-M

Looks like you get the insurance deal, I know my glass excess is higher if I go "outside" but no doubt I will just end up with A***glass anyway. Also my car is not completely as stated on the insurance docs. (but not on the road either) so a realistic approach would be handy. Send me a mail to: steve@major-bros.co.uk

What control gear is required to run these screens just so I know what additional costs there are?

I would be, depending on the price.

I supply a wiring kit to power the screen which costs £65+VAT (£76.38)

The screen is made here in the UK, and comes with a heater matrix built into the Interlayer.  They all conform to all European and British Standards.  The matrix is actually split into 2 separate circuits so you can choose to only heat one side of the screen or both.

Fitting is done by a national windscreen company, so they will pull out your existing screen and then fit the new one.

It is ideal if you wish to take out the heater matrix for a track car.

I do need 10 people for the go-ahead though.
