Difference between Auto & Manual?

Is there any MAJOR difference between a manual FD3 or auto FD3?  Is there any difference in the amount of BHP (or torque) that either will do?

As a fairly unskilled driver (I\'ve driven performance cars for years but compared to some i\'m simply a novice) would in reality I get better performance out of an auto box or does it simply take away all the fun from driving?

Would I be limited to the auto box going pop at around 400bhp or similar for example?

Your thoughts would be fantastic :D

Its so far unproven as to what power a auto/manual box will take, there are several boxes starting to let go as you climb between 400 and 500 bhp, but no one has tried yet on an auto, there is 1 guy who has nearly completed his project and will be in those figures with an auto, so look for his posts soon.

You also need to have an idea of what you want, I had 3 RX7\'s at the same time last year and recently sold the Auto, running 3 was just plain expensive, and I do miss her. I use the RX7 everyday and she was stock, quiet and most drivable in everyday rush hour traffic. Modded cars can be hassel every day rush hour, in london my modded RX7 started running on 1 rotor, where she had been sitting at idol and slow traffic for 2 hrs, she simply clogged up, not the cars fault, race plugs, rev up and drove out of london and within 10 mins was fine. But these things need concideration. Luckily this one has a very light clutch, would not want to take the other into a 2hr jam around london with a twin plate.

Horses for coarses.

Without sounding rude, you said you are not a skilled driver, should you not start with a stock car and slowly start modding, build up your bhp bit at a time, probably like 95% on this forum. Dont want to see any accidents to members.

I agree entirely with you.  I am looking for a either a very basically modded FD or completely stock, but at the same time making sure the future of the car isn\'t stuck at a low level.  If the auto box can take at least 400 thats fine :)

Is there any difference between manual and auto on the 0-60 and the 30-80 etc?

The auto box should be fine for around 400 bhp, on normal road conditions and times if the auto box is used correctly is next to nothing.
