Hi all,

I am now finally the proud owner of 1 RX7(fd), at last, as of thursday last week !!! Absolutely lovin it, but Just got a couple questions.

Firstly, when starting, the car has a tendency to try an stall for the first minute or so of running, even more so if i turn on anything electrical ie the lights, or especially so if i simply put it in reverse, any ideas guys, or just a common thing i learn to live with?? Once its warm, it is normally ok.

Secondly, anyone know where i could get some extended seat rails from, cos as im 6\'2 ish, it is a bit cosy.

Cheers guys

Andy

Do you mean by \'try and stall\' that she\'s idling like a bag of spanners? ie: revs dropping really low and car starting to shake?

If so, could be loads of things. Mine did this a few weeks ago and a change of spark plugs sorted her right out.

Could also be:

Idle position sensor being out of kilter
Over/under-fuelling for any of several reasons
Poor compression due to busted seal(s)
Air/boost leak from any of several sources
Busted ignition coil
Busted ignition leads
etc
etc
etc

Any other symptoms you have?

Yeah, it revs up to 17 or 1800 on starting (an im not touching the juice!), then drops steadily to really low and sometimes it can catch itself and pick back up, other times it cuts out, but is only when just started for 30 seconds or so. will try the plugs first then see what happens. and have also noticed that it idles at about 11 or 1200 once fullly warmed through, this seems high maybe?

As Trotter said stick a set of plugs in, they don\'t last long and need replaced regular.
For the seat rail there is a mod you can do to the standard rail to make it slide back further, there is a how to on here or FDUK.

sounds similar to what i had matey. May want to try running some injector cleaner in with the fuel, could be slightly blocked.

I wouldn\'t worry about idle. Mine can idle anywhere between 700 - 2000 depending upon cold, warm, what electrics are on, if the rad fans are on. If memory serves rightly, cold start should be immediately up around 1500 or so, then drop to around 800-1000.
