Looks like I\'ve opened a can of worms, all good stuff to know.
Found this on the net about the markings on the intercooler and year

Series 5 (1989-1992) featured updated styling and better engine management, as well as lighter rotors and a higher compression ratio, 9.7:1 for the naturally aspirated model, and 9.0:1 for the turbo model. The Turbo II moniker was dropped, and the turbocharged model was simply dubbed Turbo. The naturally aspirated Series 5 FC made 160 hp (119 kW), while the Series 5 Turbo made 200 hp (147 kW).

how eaisy is to import one, what spec, what cost etc or am I beter off finding one allready here

S4 clocks are bigger than the s5. and the clocks on that blue fc just take me back to the egi which was s4.

also im pretty sure the s4\'s were still called turbo TII\'s

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the S4 turbo was just a turbo ( i think )

it was only when the twin scroll turbo arrived on the S5 it became a turbo II ( i think )

and as festa says - the S5 turbo is 202 at the fly and the S4 turbo is about 180 ish

Humm would like to see a comparison now between S4 and S5 clocks :D

Best OEM setup is a series 5 turbo, series 4 engine :)

I broke this car almost 2 years ago :cheers

Honestly...how is this blue FC worth 3k+? I mean what has it got apart from a filter and exhaust? Im all for keeping the value of rotaries high but not really keen on watching someone get ripped off...
I mean hell we cant even decide whether its a series IV or V. So what we are saying is its a mismatch of bits. Any word on the engine health?

Interesting lol the guy who emailed me about it said he was leaving the country and needed to sell it, so I guess it was either you who emailed me or you bought it off the guy lol

WHat turbo was on that BTW, and what wheels are they? Never did find out many specs on it, how much power do you think it was making? I turned the car down although I REALLY wanted it due to the fact that this would have been my first rotary, my first RWD car and my first turbo car lol annoyingly that car is how I want my car, but I would rather start from OEM and get the parts I want, rather than a pre-modded one.

That rotary is waaay over priced, unless it had a 13B-RE engine or a large turbo/intercooler/exhaust combo like the black one its worth probably about 2k tops if its an S4 its going to be slower than if you bought a cheaper.

Here is a UK turbo II, HUGE spec for 2k

I bought it. it was a t04e . Wheels were 18in SSR SP1s which i let go for stupidly low monays. It was prob making 330ish? It had aftermakret injectors, fuel pump, clutch, LSD..you name it.

festa

Well seams like the car is over priced, being its a 1991 on a J reg it should be a series 5 but some confusion on that.
The engine ran fine and pulled well, I think the reason for the price is the guy is trying to get the money back for the rebuild, new wheels and paint job etc.
I\'d like to know more about importing one myself if anyone can help ?

Jit

Try Martin at speedline imports - hes an advertiser on here. TBH though, importing is looking pretty dire at the moment with the current exchange rate both with the yen affecting the car costs and with the dollar affecting shipping costs.

festa

Asked the guy to look at the price he wants and found out some more about it, he said it was imported about 18 months ago by street candy when they took it for an MOT the engine blew and he got it off them as a non runner so he rebuit it, paint etc etc.

Also found this on the net about identifing a s4 and s5 turbo motor, interesting reading

Cars are only worth what someone is willing to pay for one. I sold a TII cab for £4500 2 years ago with a private plate and my white one  was over £3K.  I would definately pay over £3K for an FC be it cab or coupe as long as it had proof of rebuild and it was in excellent condition and preferably for me a JDM recently imported as they do significantly have either no rust and things come apart really easily underneath the car. They will also have less mileage oin them. The FC is fast becoming a rare classic judging by the way they are being broken up.  Cant see the point in buying a high mileage car for £1500 and then spending over £2k in rebuilding it and then perhaps the same again in paint unless you are after a really good show car. I dread to think what my orange one has cost over the last 2 years but £8K for sure.

Well I managed to talk the guy down to a price I was happy to pay so its all go will pick the car up next week.
First thing on the list are some coil overs ( any ideas, second hand vs new ) and then I think I\'ll drive it for the summer before doing some mods.

TiddlesRX7

I bought second hand coilovers. I can\'t fault them. Nice cheap way of getting the ride/look you want. There are people who wouldn\'t but them second hand, but as long as they are in good nick then I don\'t see a problem with it. Just have a good look at them before you buy.
Congrats on the purchase too.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

Cheers
Where did you get your coilovers from
