Stereo gone mutant, why?

Right, I\'ve got a Sony headunit and CD changer in my car, and everything else (speakers etc) is stock. The aerial only used to extend itself when the stereo was on and set to Tuner radio function. The car\'s been stood four months, during which time the battery went totally flat, so I charged it and put it back in. Since then the aerial extends as soon as the stereo\'s turned on, whether it\'s set to tuner or not. Why? What\'s happened there then ?

Before, if the stereo was set to tuner and then switched to CD or Aux whilst still on, it would retract the aerial there and then, now it doesn\'t do that either, the aerial only retracts when you turn the stereo off. I\'ve tried to reset it, which has made no difference. Except that it then lost all the other balance and fade settings as well :Hammer

Can anyone shed some light? I know it sounds like a really trivial thing, but it really fduks me off, apart from anything else I just know I\'ll forget it and tear the damn thing off reversing into the garage  Help :3Confused

It\'ll be your traffic/news alerts probably? its the only thing that makes mine stay up constantly when driving (obv other than when im using the radio) and mines a sony :)

Wow! Never even knew I had one! So there\'s a menu option to disable that somewhere, is there? Presumably it must have turned itself on when the battery was re-connected? Cheers dude, I\'ll go have a play with it....

Nik da Greek

Alex, you\'re my new hero, dude, that was sooooo easy when it\'s pointed out for me! How could I have missed that in amongst the, like, five thousand different menu settings and useless tat I\'ve never used in years :rollin

A thousand genuflections of massive gratitude :god, dude, here\'s luv in your face :D

Can\'t believe how irritating that was the last couple of weeks

GhostWKD

Heh, I only knew that it caused it as i had the same scenario of staring at the aeriel wondering why it had suddenly decided to start leaving itself up all the time too not long ago :D

Glad to have been of help :D

Yeah, is all sorted now guys. Just for the record, you have to set the Traffic Alert and the Auto-roam Tuning facility to off (AF/TA). Leaving either one active will just mean it leaves the aerial up all the time.

It was especially annoying me as I hate the look of the car with the aerial up, it looks like a giant remote control car. One of the main reasons I bought a Sony was so precisely cos they have the function that retracts it whent he radio\'s off.

One more big up to Ghost WKD then :god

Y\'see if you were a real football fan instead of an ersatz Gooner, you\'d understand the importance of Five Live :p. Anyway, the exact problem is that I don\'t want to listen to the radio when I\'m driving, which is the precise reason that I don\'t want the smegging aerial up all the time.......

.....I\'d much rather listen to my Bros and Rick Astely CDs :o
