Guys, can someone tell me the air flow rate of the stock twins please (one of them would be ideal ;) )??

Cheers

well if the max out at 380whp(450fbhp) then that would mean they flow a max of 63lb of air  63x0.72=45.3lb of rotary power.

so in theory that 31.5lb per turbo

the have achieved higher numbers(400whp) in america but thats on a dynojet which is normally known to read higher than the uk, so theres a small possibility it could be slightly higher

i did try to find some info for you but couldnt so this is just a guess

According to Garrett a turbo should flow 1 lb/min per 9.5-10.5 fwhp, so based on this an early spec FD\'s twins will flow 24-27 lb/min once both are online.

all guestimated! i\'m sure there\'s a way you can work it out once you know the a/r?

this was an old post i put up on FDUK after digging around and trying to find some info on the twins, hope that helps :)

That is running over 1 bar though... probably 1.2 bar! picking up the bits after a weeks use at that pressure!

This is for a piston engine ;) rotaries are down to 7.69 per 1lb/min ;)

i know, i assumed you wanted to know the max flow rate, not the flow at 1bar, the 380whp in the uk was at 1.3bar lol

i couldnt remember the figure so said 7.2, thanks for the 7.69, good to know:cheers

hows the twin turbo experiment coming along, are you aiming for over 400bhp with it as ive seen 400bhp hit with 1bar in the uk on twins

Jono FD3

Well, looking at the figures so far, if I run twin TD05 16G\'s  at 1.2 bar on stock ports aparantly it makes about 400 (but not sure if my Volumetric efficiance calculation is correct!) but mine is being ported with more fuel & WI, plus the turbos will go up to 20 psi with ease acording to the flow map, so I would of  thought with the spec she should be 440 @ 1.2 at a guess, but have the capability of going up to 1.7bar if required!

The other thing is, it should come on boost at about 2000 rpm, be in the 76% efficiencey at the transision point @1.2 bar, then pull round to the 76% again at 8000rpm!! but I\'m just crunching the figures at the moment, then it\'s down to what the banc account can let me have :(

where you planning on getting them from, nicking a couple from some jap sti imprezas, they might be td04s though, im not that up on my boxer knowledge.

are you planning on having them setup like the stock ones, ie turbine housings pointing each other, are you gonna use part of the stock ones to combine them together, be cool to see any pics of any designs for that.

if you kept them seperate theres a couple of people in usa running 2 small turbos at about 400whp but i dont think they come on seq

Jono FD3

The turbos are from an Evo 4 - 8 and are good for massive boost potential! The manifolds are going to be all in stainless tube, with both turbos facing the same way (inlet facing the front bumper, and the turbos almost above each other) doing this will allow me to have 2 High flow down pipes linking in to the 3" system.

turbotoaster

ah ok, so are you running 1 turbo per rotor then, as that would make the easiest install i could think off.

how would you do the sequential thing, something like compound charging?

Jono FD3

No matey... cut out the flaps & controlers from the stock setup & graft them in to the new manifold ;) all easy enough to get it to work in theory, but a fiddle to get them in the new manfold!! but I like to set a challenge ;) LOL
