Has anyone over here done this to their FD?

There\'s a group buy over on the US forums for a kit that someone has put together but I missed it  :(

Was wondering if anyone over here had retrofitted HIDs?

Ref fitting HID lights to RX7. See group buy 17th Nov 2009 by Clive at Mazda Rotary Parts. He has a good deal going!

Hi Peter, I already have a HID kit, this is retrofitting proper projectors rather than putting HID bulbs in a reflector setup.

No probs, thanks anyways karl :) Waiting to hear back from the group buy in the US as to whether they can do another set otherwise I\'ll be investigating this for standard headlights.

karl_tate

do you have any pictures of what they looked like??

the only thing about doing yourself is that you will have to make them fully adjustable so that once all fitted up you can set them at the right height/angle.

im sure it wouldnt be too hard.

are you talking about the low slung pop ups.... like the knightsport quad conversion??
If you are, then yes it can be done :) Think you need a shorter arm on the motor to reduce the amount of lift the pop ups get, then it\'s just the case of getting good quality projector units & fitting them in........ Keep away from the ford units as they are PAP!!! best ones I have seen so far are from the latest Celica, nice crisp light out of them :)

Would the US group buy ones not have the wrong beam pattern as they drive on the wrong side of the road:Hammer

any links? toi lazy to search!

jono, if you just shortened the arm would the light just go back down to far and not flush, you would need to reposition where it pivots?

No they can set it up for RHD.

If you search for SakeBomb Garage in google the links come up :) Found a couple of retrofit places in the US that sell the various bits.

You need to set the lights up in the down position for the shortewr pivot. that way it will always return to the correct position and only lift 1/2 way up (or how ever far your shorter bar allows it to raise.) ;)

Probedb, look at Clives of Mazda Rotary Parts HID / Crystal headlight kit. This is a complete pair of new headlights with HID bulbs for FD\'s May be what you are looking for.

HI Peter, as I already said, Clive\'s group buy is for clear reflectors and HID bulbs. I\'m after projectors.

Probedb - I missed out on the SakeBomb RX7Club group buy too, for what\'s roughly £530 its a bloody brilliant group buy.  I hope they do another.  If they do, I\'ll be first in line I tell thee!

Hmmm, they look remarkably like the ones I\'ve seen on the MR2 OC a fair bit, come up all the time on Yank Fleabay. I believe that they consistently utterly fail to pass an MOT, for what that\'s worth. They also look completely ridiculous, but that\'s just my humble opinion :3Confused
