Ive been reading the posts and you guys are really getting some good deals......so i rang for a quote......

Now i dont have a rex yet and i told them this but i did give a reg no of a car i like on Pistonheads.... its on at 6700 but after talking on the phone to them i think i can get it for 6200....anyway the insurance....

I told Pete Best as much as i could about the car.... bearing in mind
Im female 40 years young never done nothing not even points... been driving 21 years. Had a rex before....sold it in 2006.

333.16 insured for 3000 miles a year fully comp..... now until i read your posts on here i thought that was pretty good......

How the hell do you get insurance for 200 to 250.......

Is it a fair price or am i getting a not so good deal?

grinder

dont know about you - but mines insured as a classic as a second car with limited milage of about 1500 per annum

to be honest - i still think 333 is a steal ( esp for a group 20 car ! )

I wouldn\'t complain to much about £100 some of us are playing 4 or 5 times what you\'ve been quoted.
As for the difference in price could be your post code or any other little detail.

DC-TYPER

renewals are cheaper with the best  :)  my wife paid 350 1st year and now 180-200 now

330 is better than I got from Aon/Footman James on a second car/classic policy and I\'m not exactly a high risk profile any more. I\'ll be interested to see if the renewal is less.

L18M

try sky insurance. they gave me a good deal (speak to olly). i added my gf to the policy and it came out cheaper than just me.
my renewl is up within the next week or 2. hope the price drops from £500 to 1/2 :p
all mods decared and was 3k miles limit. cant remember if it was classic policy or not =/

Hiya yeah like i said i thought it was good until i started reading posts... ( too nosey for my own good) lol
Like someone said i do believe it goes on post codes.

Yeah ive seen a few posts about sky insurance, ill give them a buzz it wont hurt anything.
You know with pete best is it the norm for them to ask for photos of the car?  and a mileage reading. I have never had classic insurance before so i dont really know what the norm is.

L18M

the postcode bit is true, they count it based on the numbers in the 1st half of the postcode i believe.
(hence i insure it at parents place (XX16) as opposed to my gals place (XX3)

some classic policies can not earn NCB.

The photo bit is not unusual for classic policies. Some expect or accept a valuation (available through the club) as evidence of value and, unless things have changed, others will demand a full engineer\'s report which is not that cheap!

The mileage requirement is universal on classic policies that limit annual mileage as a second \'classic\' car. Not unreasonably, they want to know what it is at the beginning of the period of cover. You can often extend it for payment of an extra premium if you find you are using up the 3000 or 5000 limit agreed on when you took the policy out.

DC-TYPER

we didnt get any of this for  our fd??

must be new for them

Insured the FC with PB seems pretty fair to me.

Having said that I must tick all the right boxes. 59 years old, 7 years no claim, third car on classic Policy.

£100 excess
5000 miles [will not increase]
Agreed value
Breakdown cover.

£227, fully comp of course.

Pleasant ppl to deal with.
I started with nothing and I have most of it left

grinder

mine is limited to 1500 miles and no breakdown ( i have AA cover ) - so thats prob why mine is sub £200

hummm not overly sure .. at the end of the day - we really need someone who has claimed from them .. they are all happy to take the money - but what are they like at paying it back ?
