Got my 2nd FD (stock) on Tuesday after selling my old single a few years back, and immediately went to Pip\'s to check compression reading for personal piece of mind which were

front
6.8
6.75
6.85

rear
6.5
6.85
6.65

@238rpm

pretty even  but I had hoped it would be a bit higher tbh since it\'s only done 9k since rebuild, anyway I want to prolong the engine and want to know whats the best thing to do right now, I am looking to change the oil with CASTROL 4L MAGNATEC 10w-40 SEMI and was wondering if I should change the radiator to a 50mm core ally unit to help keep engine temp down since I\'m going to change the coolant anyway, not looking for power gains right now just reliabillity..

any advice is much appreciated.:cheers

When adjusted for 250 rpm that\'s on 7\'s pretty much.

Off to see Pip tomorrow for MOT and a few other things (wanna chat about porting :D :D) so getting comp test done as well. Done 26k on rebuild so just want some peace of mind.

i\'ll get my results up tomorrow.

To answer your question though:

1) Regular oil and filter change
2) Regular spark plug change (I do mine every 2nd oil change)
3) Warm up before you give it a bootful
4) Don\'t do short trips
5) Redline at least once a journey to clear out any carbon build-ups

oh yeah I did have the plugs changed at Pip\'s too since they were out, please do post the results always nice to have something to compare to lol.

thanks for the advice.

My stock FC is currently on 68k I think, stock engine to start with, but has now been modded, it has 7s all round :)

Did I just read something about a semi? Well, if thats an erection its nowt to do with me but if you are talking about semi synthetic engine oil then thats a no-no in a rotary, Castrol GTX or similar mineral oil as the synthetic shags the seals and then you won\'t have any compression at all!!!Bob.

Had my fd checked at pip\'s when i got it (nearly 2 years ago) and had the following on a standard engine covering 41628k no re-build as I know of
Front Rotor
6.80, 6.65, 6.85
Rear Rotor
6.55, 6.60, 6.65
@238 rpm

Pip said it was fine.

Quotewhich premix do you guys use then?
Thats the can of worms opened again. Personally i use millers KB2T and have done for years, but Bob had a build up issue with the same oil. This may be down to the fact that I\'ve always used water injection as well as premix which has the effect of cleaning the engine internals. I\'ve currently got a load of seals sat in a tub of full synthetic low SAP\'s oil (this is designed for a ash less burnt in Euro 5 engines where all oil vapors are burn rather than vented) to see if there\'s any reaction between the two. If there\'s no sign of degrading after 6 months immersion then I\'m going to give it a try in my FC, if another test of its compatibility with E85 comes back as OK then I\'ll be trying it in the Cosmo also.

To safeguard from water seal failure then its well worth adding a bottle of K seal to the coolant system......don\'t use any other type of coolant sealant though!

Check out some marine 2 stroke stuff, its ment for marine engines that are constantly at high revs and high load :)

Also, just get some \'Halfords Orange\' 10W40 mineral oil, check the oil every 3000 miles or so - or indeed if it gets a bit dark, its cheap so its all good :) don\'t forget that this oil is also injected into the engine, any mucky oil won\'t do the engine any good and could block the OMP lines causing definate failure of the engine.

oooo, mixed results with that kev.... put it in the pickup due to a slight water leak, ran it for 3 months then it blew the pi55 out of my rad & head gasket :( the K-seal had blocked up my pipe to the header tank & basicaly over presurised the coolant system... BANG!:reallymad

your probably best off just doing as mazda sujest, but a little more frequantly!
