Quote from: Ian65;654992It\'s a strange thing that Mazda decided to fit the air -con button to the last of the UK 1st gens when the cars weren\'t equiped with air-con
Not all UK series 3 cars had this button fitted.
My 1984 \'A\' reg series 3 didn\'t, neither did my mates who had exactly the same model and year.

I can only assume that early series 3\'s used up the remaining stock of non air-con fan switches and then Mazda just fitted whatever stock they had left to the remaining UK cars to the end of the production run, these seemingly being the air-con version

I wonder if the loom is factory wired for air-con as well, which would make it simpler to retro fit air conditioning if required or if it\'s just the switch.

my \'A\' reg one doesnt have the button but the \'C\' reg one i had did have it i was going to take it out and put it im my \'A\' reg one (Just for the look) but kinda forgot about it there was nothing wired up to it and no pipes or anything i could see in the car that had nething to do with air con

When we were bringing our second 1st gen, a Series 3, B reg, home from Huddersfield in 1988 it overheated quite badly. I was driving, noticed the air con button which was a new thing to us, the previous S2 didn\'t have it, so I said to the Missus,

"Sithee \'ere, turn that theer button thingy off fo\'taircon luv".

That\'s how we talk round here - anyway, on doing that the temperature fell as if by magic. When she pressed again it went back up. When we got home and I discovered it wasn\'t connected we fell about laughing.

The problem turned out to be wrong plugs fitted by the Huddersfield garage before we picked the car up. It took 2 days of radiator out and such like to find the problem. I was livid.

Hi Brian,
I\'ve never clocked that Reg before now, so no record and it\'s showing not found on DVLA (But that could mean it was broken some time ago).

You don\'t possibly mean UKL do you? Because that is (or was) a Rally Prepped car, colour White, last noted still rallying in 2003.
Let me know either way because if you do mean URL 970X I\'ll add it to my scrappers and if it\'s UKL I\'ll check through my old files and send you a PM on what I find.
David.

If that\'s a condition 2 car, mine must be a condition 1.
