if using a gt35/40 turbo on fd3s models what boost is this turbo capable off while still keeping to ideal operating temps etc i know as u boost more the turbo generates more heat but is this turbo capable of running 1-1.1 bar comfortably i am currently running 0.8 but want a bit more of a kick in the back.it starts boosting at 2500 and reached 0.8 by 3500rpm and then holds it all the way up as usual looking for a bit more kick

These turbos are more than able to supply a lot more than 1-1.2 bar. :D

I would only run up to about 1.2 max on a rotary, but Max I would think is about the best person to answer this one.

Keep it at 14psi on pump gas. No point playing with fire and blowing your motor with a bad tank of fuel...and I think consensus would say u should have a pinned motor if u r running 1bar+.

35/40 should take 20psi no worries I\'d have though, with good fuel of course...

IMO I would consider it a 400 rwhp turbo for the 13b  :)

The fag packet maths came up with an ideal efficiency band of between 0.8 bar and about 1.2 bar for your average streetported lump.

As a guide, my power increments have been around 30 rwhp increase per 0.1 bar boost increase so far, so if you manage the boost increase properly, you should gain around 60 rwhp. Take it to a dyno and let me know how far out I am please!

Intake temps have never been an issue so far! I think you\'d have to really go a substantial bit higher to notice a significant increase.

These turbo\'s seem to come in many combinations.
That means that they can vary as to what is the best boost level for most efficiency.
The GT 35/40 is generally in it\'s most efficient range at around 1.5 Bar for most variations.
If the engine is built with all of the right parts then around 1.5 bar will really make the  car very quick.
As Max said though DO NOT RUN THIS BOOST ON AN UNMODIFIED ENGINE!
Go by the figures that Max suggested and you won\'t go too far wrong with proper mapping.

Garrett only make the 35R with a couple of different options dont they? i.e. a couple of different turbine housing a/r\'s?

Spill the beans; will you be running some big boost through Clive\'s car? :D ;) :bandit

I\'m interested to see what these things will make, a few of the guys on the Kai list (inc one of the datalogit fathers from recollection) believe there to be back pressure problems of some sort when they are pushing 400+ at the wheels on a 13B. HAvent heard this any where else but ehy, who knows...

Ahhhhh, just because Garrett only make them with a couple of choices on the cold/hot side, doesnt mean that other companies are not trying different parts. ;)

Yeah, I appreciate that but as far as the UK is concerned they all come from the same place and are standard Garrett units...

We don\'t all get them from the same place.
