it might be some oil getting into the turbo, could be a simple fix.
sounds cheap, has it had a rebuild at some point? for that price im assuming it hasnt?
if it has then go for it :)

Thats cheap for a single turbo RX7, what colour smoke is it? if its black then its running rich and nothing to much to worry about.

asalready asked. what colour is the smoke.  whats the engine mileage
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

just rung him and he says its like a white smoke but couldnt be sure,i went in it earlier and it didnt do it then, its just done 50000 miles , it has had a engine put in wen i got coverted to single turbo, the bloke who had it befor my mate changed it aparently so not realy sure, im looking on keepin it and dont mind spendin a few quid on it but dont want it to go pop as soon as i have it like,

cheers for the replys

if i was you. i`d budget a rebuild in the near future. white smoke is a sign water seals are going. it might last 10 miles or 20k .

still a very cheap single tub rex even if rebuild is required.. go for it

how mutch would a rebuild be? i think it would be a good idea to buy it because it looks the way id want it to look wen id finished it, with all the stuff already on there be cheeper in the long run? i could wait 6 months and buy one thats has had a rebuild?, i surpose i could call it my xmas prezie if i had it now lol, it had a dyno run in 2007, 410 bhp, just have to get it back to that, its also got anoter turbo with it, ive never saw anythin so big its 12inch round no play in the shaft, its got all the stuf to put it back to twin turbo aswell, mabe sell all that for the rebuild?

skybusr34

rx7 run alot bigger turbos than piston cars due to larger volume of exhaust gases they exspell. 410 at the fly is easy to get with a relitivly sp small turbo. to4s . if you say its 12" diameter thats in the league of hks t51 size and with right supporting mods will easily see 500hp

is that 410 whp or fhp. couple of point on rebuild... if you end up rebuilding it once water seals go. get it done pretty quick as you dont want water sitting on the rotor faces. if it goes bang and throws a tip it could damage housings, rotors and turbo . costly. upto 4k or more.

personally if i was you. if everything else is as you`d like it. i`d get it rebuild before it fails. that way you`ll be looking anyway from 1500 quid up wards for a rebuild.

oh i see, the one thats on there now is about 10inch dia, the other 1 is a spare, the readout was at the wheels,

and in that cace id think it would be a gud idea to just run it around and not boot it i dont have to go far for work thank god, il try find more info on it , is it hard to replace water  seals?

i carnt see any other cars on the net for that price, i may have to quiet it down abit its got screemer pipe on and 3.5inch all way thru sounds like amplified thunder, nabours mite have somethin to say lol,

cheers for the advice

water seals need whole rebuild, engine out taken apart, the full monty. but the consolidation on water seals going is that u might be able to reuse the housings and rotors.
if a tip goes then chances are it will take out the housing (good used set = £300 ish, new set = £900)
typical rebuild is £3500 ish (new tips, seals, springs and few others not 100% sure), new housing is extra on top.

i could take the engine out myself, i had one out my gto and this looks a lot easyer, it aint got tha dreaded rats nest so that would be a plus,

been looking at them rotary engine rebuild videos doesnt look to dificult to be fair, mite be an idea to get a spare engine,
