Since I got the car (its off the road) the headlights haven\'t worked at all, the sidelights don\'t work and the headlight motors don\'t work...

Makes me wonder if its a relay?! Although when I turn them on I get a \'beep beep beep\' noise. NO idea what this means!

Anyone got any suggestions of anything specific to try?

Thanks!

the interior lights work?
checked the fuse in the engine bay?

Fuse is fine btw - should have mentioned that! Oh, AND its an FC - how could I forget to mention that?!

Its a vert too btw. Door lights work fine, can\'t remember if there\'s another interior light to check tho.

Come on, someone must have an idea!

The rear lights work, the little low side lights work, but it still goes \'beep beep, beep beep\' at me when I turn it on.

The lights wind up manually fine.

Just can\'t get the lights themselves on! The beep beep MUST mean some set error code?! Or indicate where the fault is...

(oh and the left front indicator doesn\'t work either, but I reckon I can sort that - anyone know which fuse it is for the indicators, so I can test the wiring?)

This is the major thing stopping this car being MOT\'d atm! Please help!

Check all wires going into the motors/relays/bulbs... they ae prone to rusting, my bulbs were very tricky until i tightened up the connections... check every bit of wiring you can would be my advice, a PITA but neccessary. Good luck

Perhaps try and manually wind them up when the lights are \'on\' and then when they are up turn the lights off and see if they shut :)

Relays vary depending on whether this is a UK or JAP/Import model, but there is a retractor relay, and it\'s corresponding fuse, and there are 2 relays for the main lights - one relay turns on the headlights( 4 connector) , the other switches to main beam (5 connector). From memory the last 2 relays on the drivers side are the ones for the lights. The relays are all normally located in the gap where the overflow bottle is behind the front bumper and in front of the radiator.

Grounding can often be a problem with these guys, as can the positive feed from the relay - you get a lot of corrosion in there.

Try and isolate the circuits going back from the bulb - and see if you can see where the break is.

You\'ll find 2 fuses in the rectangular fuse box in the engine bay - one says retractor and one headlight - the retractor fuse powers the light motors and the relay that operates them. The other fuse provides 12v feed to the lights, lights washer motor, and a 12v feed to the light switch to operate the internal retractor relay in that.

I\'ve had 12V feed from the main fuse to the relays go on me, the 12V to the light switch which meant the washer motor only operated with the lights off (not really too helpful ;)) and also the retractor fail.

The wiring loom passing in front of the radiator doesn\'t help either !

Give us a shout if you need further help - I\'m quite familiar with all the lights bit now ;)

I\'ll try and dig out the wiring colours tonight - should help you trace it.
