flashing \'hold\' light and speedo not working?

Ok so i have an auto fd here and driving along my privite drive the speedo has stopped working and hold is flashing in the middle of the rev counter,

so who would like to win a mouldy chocolate bar and tell me whats going on?
Im thinking a loose connection somewhere so i guess i\'ll be checking behind the dome tomorrow and go from there.?
any other sugestions?

Assuming it\'s an auto, the flasing hold indicates an gbox problem. Combined with your speedo issue I\'d guess you have the speedo drive dangling somewhere.
Start by checking the connection to the box. If you have a rough driveway you may have caught the cable, (some mph convertors will leave a longer loop hanging down that\'s prone to getting caught)

I\'d start by checking the cables into the gearbox, the check the connection to the dash, if it\'s not a simple cable issue then you will need to consult the workshop manual I\'m afraid

on the FC - the hold light is also the malfunction light - so it should flash a code that you can look up on the \'net
