What causes them and how can they be prevented :2Rolleyes ?

I thought that was a sign of omp failure,

There are lots of theory\'s but the most common is that Chatter marks are caused by aftermarket apex\'s.

BUT!! that said i have seen one or two engines with Chatter marks on there first rebuild, so my guess would be that all Apex\'s make chatter marks over time but some aftermarket ones may create them quicker than oe\'s.

interesting, how can you tell if your omps are working as my rx doesnt seem to consume any oil so im using premix now. also i have changed my omp and no change

There are actually many reasons for chatter marks.
If you give me a buzz I can explain alot easier as it is much more complicated than you might think.
