Hi,

I just joined this great forum. How you all doing?

The car I’m looking at buying is an RX7 - EFINI 2.6 TWIN TURBO TYPE R
I’m unsure of the year or mileage yet but have contacted the dealer and am awaiting a reply.
I know the Type R\'s have harder suspension and since it\'s a twin turbo it must be a third gen so 1994+ (if I’m wrong about any of this please correct me) But what I really wanna know is what the hell is an EFINI? Is it extra trim or just a Japanese word for something, or does it mean nothing?
The mods it has are:
H.K.S camber adjustable suspension; H.K.S braded performance hoses; BLITZ dump valva; H.K.S front and rear mounted strut braces; upgraded brakes of some sort; BLITZ turbo timer; GReady boost guage; some water temp guages and a MOMO steering wheel.

It comes fully taxed with 12month MOT + Dealer warranty but despite that I will of course get the AA to check to make sure it hasn\'t been in an accident or such. Next I’m going to take it to a tuning specialist to make sure the mods are reliable and not engine killers. I might need to upgrade the fueling system or something who knows.

Once the car has been purchased and I’m sure it’s all sound. I want to uprate the interior because I find the standard interior of the RX7\'s generally bland and show that they are from the early 90’s era.

But check this one out. http://www.futurautos.co.uk/images/forecourt/rx71.JPG

So my last request is: Can anyone here recommend someone in the UK who could uprate interiors to that sort of quality?

The car is red atm with a shit huge spoiler on the back which I\'ll replace with a Cwest Hammershark. I also hate red, so I\'ll get the whole lot sprayed innocent blue mica and get some decent white coloured 17 or 18 alloys to replace the 16" ones that are on it atm. â€"but I probably don’t need any advise on that because car sprayers are a plenty.

Thanks in advance for any comments you make!

Gen 3s ran from 92.

Efini is the Japanese Domestic Market name for the RX7 Gen 3 for the earlier models.

Welcome

I see from your profile you\'re 23 - I trust you\'ve sorted the insurance out - import or UK car etc.

Can be difficult at your age.

Good luck

Yes even for my stupid 92\' cavalier I\'m paying 1000/year

I\'m with Sabre(Through theAA) insurance for the cavalier.

The online quote system says they won\'t insure me for an RX7 Type R online but if I phone them direct they will.

How does this thing I\'ve heard about ppl doing with making it a second car or whatnot, is it a seperate policy or can you add two cars to one policy? What\'s the jig.

To make matters worse I only recently moved back to the UK 2 years ago after living out in South Africa for 20 years (british citizen though). Not having 3 years address history in the UK doesn\'t help me at all haha.

If you want top notch interior work.  Contact Charisma (sorry cant find their contact details.)  Very expensive but work is second to none.

I\'ll root around for contact details and post if I find them.;)

Looks like a fantastic car but i would definetly look into the insurance 1st.

The car on this site is a single turno making over 400BHP which i suspect most insurnace companies would not like too much.

I\'m 26 but still i want an un modified FD cos the insurance costs are very high without mods.

Hope i havent put a downer on your plans.

Cheers

Car does indeed look lurvely (although i agree about red for the FD!) but can\'t recommend getting some quotes first.

There\'s a lot about this in the insurance section (surprise, surprise!) but you\'ll find these cars are a nightmare to insure. Took me a LOT of phoning about, the prob is a lot of companies won\'t touch you until your 25 (some even 30!) and if they do it\'ll be at a huge rate.

Personally, the only way i could make it work is by insuring a shed as a runabout and getting a low mileage policy for the FD as a second car. Even so, you\'ll be very lucky if you find your current insurance doesn\'t double at least, especially considering the mods on the car.

That said, it can be done! Wish you the best matey.

Took this car for a test drive. Amazing car, but even though the interior looks great in the pics, bear in mind the dash has been removed and sprayed silver. Pretty sure this will start to flake off with time.

Although i dont like red i\'d buy the one @ futurautos as i do like the car, at 400bhp it\'ll perform quite well too.

Just make sure you get yourself the best possible quote by shopping around pal.;)
