Went up to Bedford on Friday night - got stuck in lots of traffic - nothing unusual about that these days :(

Got off the motorways and started on the back roads - through Denham and into Amersham - I smelt burning - electrical burning - and thought the car in front was having some problems....

...Got into Amersham and stuck in a bit more traffic - that\'s when I noticed my water temps going up a might quickly - hitting 100 I decided to pull into a side road...

...that\'s when I found the source of the burning smells - the electric fan wiring had burnt out completely, luckily it\'s only the wiring on the fan itself. Haven\'t found out why it went yet, but it meant a slight damper on the Japshow Finale rwyb on Saturday.

coupled with the emanage 2step ignition cut not working correctly - meant my first 2 runs were completely hopeless - although some entertaining pops and bangs on my first 2 runs - car nearly stalling out before letting out a massive bang and loads of grey/brown smoke.

Seems that when the stock ECU detects water temps at or over a 100 it tries to compensate by upping the fuelling to 100% - that really doesn\'t help matters - richer running usually gives higher water temps.

Mitch lent me his 14" fan - which has helped get the temps under control a little - but it meant no more than 3 runs and then stopping to let the car cool. Drove home Sunday with the heating full on :Giggle

Time to make a bomb proof fan controller with some kind of warning feedback...

Well at least you didn\'t properly overheat it right? Thats the main thing!

Also I was under the impression that part of the reason for the rotaries sunning rich is because they actually use some of the petrol to cool them?

Oh man not good news. As above though thank goodness it didn\'t overheat fully.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

Scared the camera guy at the side of the track when it let off though hehe

I do wonder if anyone got a pic of it - it was quite a cloud of it out the back

Actually it\'s a technique used by a lot of turbo cars, but this rampant fuel dumping is a bit ott :Giggle
