Anyone know where i can grab one of these bonnets?

Sorry about the pic, the only one i could find.

Also what kind of monies im looking at.

And finally are they any good? Dave at TVMOT said that i need some sort of vent with my setup, just going to run bonnet spacers for the time being. The car has a propper front mount and a big(ish) single tub

cheers :D

Those FEED bonnets don\'t appear to have the vents in the best place - rear of the bonnet is a high pressure zone.

Bonnet raisers will probably actually make your underbonnet temps worse.

You need a decent undertray, and some decent ducting :) What IC and ducting setup are you running?

dthebuk

ah your the guy that helped me out with wheels on fduk right? Awesome!

Currently running no ducting that i know of, i presume you mean pipes taking air around the engine bay? Intercooler is pressed right up to the front bumper

The main reason for the feed bonnet was to keep it stock looking, not usually a fan of bonnet vents.

Also surely bonnet risers will work? Theres a flood of hot air around there, or are you trying to said cold air out side will be at such a pressure that it wont let the hot air out? If that makes sense?

cheers for the help dude :D

There\'s a reason why the air intake for cabin air is in the scuttle, dude, that\'s where the air pressure is highest when moving, so air is forced in there. Very hard for the vents to release hot engine bay air out at the point of highest pressure

dthebuk

so are we saying no to the feed bonnet then?

Though before i dismiss it, it\'d be nice to know what kind of temps people are getting running it.

Who has one then? :D

isnt that sweety wells old car?? why do you NEED vents?? people run huge power cars and dont run vents... look at wildays car he dont have vents... and he doing 10 sec 1/4 miles lol...

dthebuk

yea its chris\'s old car. I was told the car needs vents by someone who has seen and knows alot more about these cars than myself. Im really not a fan of vents, apart from the feed one, purely because it\'s subtle. As for the comment on wildays car, i would assume he has a different method of cooling, the car also has a different purpose.

I\'ve had one of these on my fd and they DO work quite well,I cant remember what my temps were but they did reduce after fitting the bonnet from a standard bonnet.

I have one and they work great, you can even see all the hot air comming out the vents.

dthebuk

ah good times. If you dont mind me asking, what kinda price did you guys pay for them?

Plus why would Feed run it on their Touge car etc if they did nothing at all?

I still want one of these bonnets too :)

Is that a rhetorical question? If not, I\'d suggest it might cynically have something to do with the facts they

a) want to charge millions of Yen to punters to buy replicas of their bonnets

b) want to have a style unique to their company so people can identify it instantly and people who are suckered into a "label lifestyle" will want to be associated with the name

c) all the "good" designs with the vents in the correct place to actually work well had already been snaffled by their competitors (e.g MazdaSpeed, who can actually prove stuff in a wind tunnel instead of errrrm, guessing lol:D) so all they were left with is the one in the OP

RobMatthews

They do work and this arguement has taken place befor!

Iirc they work by the air moving quicker over the outside of the bonnet, pulling the hot air out from under the bonnet through the vents, simples.

Nik did you get out of the wrong side of the bed ?:2Confused
