Differences between jap spec and uk spec cars...getting annoying now!

Hey guys, just got the seats off Brian, they are fab went to go fit them to find they won\'t just bolt in but needs a HUGE amount of adjustment, his car is jap spec, mine is UK spec.

When I went to get an exhaust at JM garage, James uses Liams Jap spec series 5 car as a mock up, when it was fitted to mine it didn\'t fit, same turbo, but the jap spec car seemed to have the bolts on the back of the turbo in slightly different places meaning the whole downpipe was rotated and didn\'t fit.

Is it just my car that is different to ALLLL other FCs, its getting annoying now

Bad news mate. I would have thought that they were all the same (to keep devlopment costs down) but clearly not. Then again maybe you\'ve got one of those FC\'s with a funny personality!

Sounds like it lol, its typical lol im gonna get the seats recovered before I fit them I think, but need to work out how best to fit them

Well I dunno about fitting them but I do know that the aftermarket rails are bloody expencive. I know Shaunwil made some for his FD (alloy ones I think), so a PM to him might help you with advice.

humm i have had prob fitting a cat back JDM to a UK car - althought the UK one fit the JDM just fine

wouldnt have thougt the turbo would be different though

and the seats thats an interesting one - i have taken the seats out of a UK and JDM car and i have to admit - they looked like they were in the same place ??

have you got a pic to show how far the bolts are out ??

if its any consolation, my engine had a fair few differances to benlewismays one and his was jdm also.

seats in the export versions go back further to suit taller drivers
methinks its only in the seat rail and if you swap the lot should be OK
-- aftermarket seats for FC usually require \'bride\' rails to make suit

as for the turbo,, the dump is the same,, even s4 and s5 will interchange,, as the pattern off the rear of the turbo is the same

( the only detail difference i am aware of is the s4 gasket has a slightly bigger ID for the dump,, but they interchange 100% )

I got the seats as they came with the rails, couldn\'t afford to do it otherwise, I guess thats why they are adjustable, else they would just be fixed for all FCs lol just frustating lol

I don\'t know whats up with the exhaust system, JM garage fitted the whole system and made sure everything sat flat and correct - as if the system were for his car, then he unbolted the parts that were all welded alraedy and the downpipe was making the mid box tilt at about 20 degrees, I just think liams car got jelous that I was getting a awesome exhaust system

pretty strange your problems as I have swopped lots of stuff from UK to JDM and visa versa with no problems. Shells are the same, its mainly cosmetic items that are different. There was a thread started about the differences somewhere.
