My engine is getting rebuilt and when it is complete it will be getting a PFC to replace the standard ECU will i need a boost controller?

Current spec:
Racing beat exhaust
HKS downpipe
Apexi twin induction kit
HKS turbo timer
Apexi Power FC (when i manage to buy one and get it put on after the rebuild)

Do you reckon i will need one?

Cheers in advance

I cannot see any reason why you would need one, as long as you get the pfc mapped then it will control your boost.

I believe the people who have fitted boost controllers along with pfc\'s have either had seperate boost issues or are boosting beyond the range of the stock solenoid.

Content to be corrected tho :-)

Whats controlling the boost at the mo?

FD3S Efini

just the standard ECU until the PFC is installed, im pretty new to the boost side of things

I guess it depends on if the PFC controls the boost solinoid, I have an FC and im running a boost controller, might be an idea as then you can change the duty on the solinoid which will help it spool better, mine allows me to choose how much boost I want in each gear :) make sure you have a mechanical boost guage as well :)

FD3S Efini

yeah im buying few gauges to monitor the main things in the engine i will get boost gauge, oil temp and pressure and water temp

Try and get a mechanical one as its the boost that directly changes the dial, rather than the boost changing a sensor that is fed down a wire into another motor that moves the gauge electronically lol :) direct is better :)

The boost gauge should have a read out on it as well, so you will have a point of reference between the two :)

The Apexi ECU controls the stock boost solinoid fine up to 0.9 BAR on the mods you listed
