Throttle Body Coolant

Who on here has bypassed the throttle body on their coolant system? Does it have any benefits or issues?
It\'s just that I\'m looking at the situation from a couple of angles really, in that the coolant system  is designed to remove heat from the system, but when the coolant gets hot would it not heat up the throttle body therefore increasing air temps?
Any advice/ideas from experience would be appreciated, as it may help me make up my mind whther or not to do it.

Would this be the water going into the BAC valve? the BAC valve is to do with the cold start cycle and affects the idle

It\'s on an FD, I mean the coolant feed that runs through the throttle body. I know the throttle body thermowax is submerged in this coolant.I know there is some info on Rob Robinette\'s site, but was wondering if anyone over here had done it and could share there experience with it.

I tried it, hated it. My idle sounded like a tractor and below 1200 rpm kept trying to stall, struggled to drive it smoothly at 30 mph in 4th, seemed to surge a lot.
It\'s easy to do, i just took coolant hose from behind/under the UIM (righthand side, back on the engine bay) and connected it to the nozzel to the very left of the engine bay (the coolant connector nozzle right next to the intake elbow) it\'s a bit of a faf, but if you twist and turn the hose it will reach easily. Then the idle control valve/flap thingie needs adjusting (take the spring off the screw and just turn the screw, dont worry about safety wires etc)

Yes, run mine from rear plate directly to wp. Have no issues with it.

Did this on my old mini (I know it\'s a slightly different thing) but it made cold starting a total bitch! wouldn\'t run right until everything els was warm! but did make a little performance differance, but having said that the manifold is getting cooked by the exhaust on the old A series!

I always wondered what the point in this was - just seems daft - isn\'t it basically removing half the \'choke\' system? That\'s my understanding, and if that\'s right, it just seems daft. If it\'s done for reliability, i.e. reducing water paths, then just spend £20 on new hoses instead.

I\'m all for getting rid of crap I don\'t need, but stuff like getting rid of this and the idle control valve just seems a step to far.

I\'ve got rid of mine did it when i took the butterflys out of the UIM and a few other bits, no problems running at all since.

I dont see the point of removing it tbh. Like SiH said, if its for the sake of reliability, just cough out 20 quid on some hoses.

You really need to do this mod in conjunction with removing the butterflies it will improve airflow through the intake tract....otherwise no real point..
Definately want it mate but the dog has just died so will be getting the missus a new dog for christmas....

it\'s a system Mazda introduced to prevent \'non car minded people\' from going full throttle on a cold engine.

The thermowax prevents the 2 upper butterflies to fully open when the engine is still cold and thus preventing it from delivering full power.

Removing the bypass to the TB will also include remocving those butterflies.

Concequence is that now you will need to watch your right foot yourself untill the engine is properly warmed before flooring it.

It \'s a simplification of the system.

Took mine out as well, no problems to report :)

Well this is good to know, think I will have to remove the butterflies as well then, and see how it goes. It\'s just finding a few spare minutes now to do the bloody thing.
