how did you guys do it?

Bolting the clutch cover to the f/wheel through the inspection hole. This is tough, i have one of the 6 bolts in and the dowels are lines up but i cant get any other nuts in. im close. 1 mm out but im underneath the car with a 14 inch tube trying to wedge the cover against the flywheel and im still having trouble getting the 2nd nut in.  any ideas. bigger bar? i dont want to break something.

I wont be doing it this way again.

Can it be done that way? I wouldn\'t like to even try it. I\'ve always bolted the clutch on before joining the engine and box. Then you only have to reattach the release bearing through the inspection plate.

It can be done but I only usually bother with standard clutches. Aftermarket clutchs have tended to give me too much grief.

+1

i cant see why people bother undoing the bolts when taking a box off when a simple flick of a screwdiver will suffice

no telling some people though

Ada\'s wouldn\'t "flick", so we had to do it the long way. He bent my quarter-inch pry bar trying to flick it, the Herculesian brute . Dunno what we were doing wrong?

he\'s probably bent the clutch fork now the massive powerhouse

there is a knack to getting it right

Yes its possible, I did it with mine. getting the release bearing to free is a two screwdriver job and it requires little force at all, I did have the oposite problem getting the bearing back on! I bent a screw driver then tried doing it with a delicate touch and it popped right in. :o:Ladys-man
I woof in your general direction.

Sorted. i decided to go and buy a longer bolt and cut it down so make it about 1cm longer than the other 6. The bolt cost 50p. i angle grinded the thing in half. it went straight in. did all the others. took my helper bolt out and put the correct one in. nice and tight.

I cant believe i struggled for so long.

Job done, car running, Kris happy.

i did exactly the same, two screw drivers either side and i barely touched it, when you actually look it when its all out you can then see how simple but clever it is. ive always had pull type clutches.

A 10mm longer bolt must be the easiest way to do it. Someone said they couldnt get the lever to clip over. Ill try it the other way next time though.
