Since buying my car (standard on twins) i\'ve always been able to hear to turbos when driving, espcially the 1st turbo at lowish RPM (oddly, its louder in 4th), I was wondering whether this is normal or if its likely that I have a boost leak?

I don\'t have a boost gauge so have no way of telling.

Can you hear a whistling noise, or an air escaping whoosh noise ?

First one is good, second one is  not !!1

the turbos spooling will sound like a little jet engine, (i love it), but a boost leak is a definate woosh.
:Laugh LOL

It\'s also more prominant with a metal hardpipe kit ;) I know when I was running the std rubber hoses you could only just hear it, but as soon as I put the stainless pipes on it was twice as loud!

Are you running the stock induction system, or aftermarket filters? It\'s MUCH louder with aftermarket filters.

And a boost gauge won\'t really help you know if you\'ve got a boost leak - only in that it will take longer o reach the required boost. The turbo\'s will keep making boost until they hit the required pressure to open the actuators, regardless of any leaks. (up to their efficiency limits of course)
