does anyone know if the brake calipers/discs on a Gen1 FB can be replaced with non standard  ones? does it mean upgrading all the brake lines etc?

are there any suitable big brake kits on the market?

look at respeed, i have a kit and im looking to fit it all in the next couple of weeks, you will need gen 2 hubs and calipers and near rear axles (if you want 5 stud) if you want to stick to stock 4 stud like me you will need to track down a non turbo gen 2 in the us as these still used 114 x 4 but with hubs

What year is the FB ?? If its an early generation you also have the option of gsle axle and rear discs as well. But It would be a full axle swap !

Welcome aboard :D

thanks both.

I will take a look at respeed.

It is a 84 FB(mk2?) BTW - Just getting it back on the road after 4 years in the garage - (been having fun on two wheels instead)

The front calipers where stuck solid - got a local garage sorting it and just thought it may be time to upgrade the brakes if the calipers are screwed. could i just replace the calipers and leave the stock discs?

i will be pulling all my calipers off if you want good second hand? the discs will be usable too if you want them?
do you currently have rear discs and 14" wheels? if so its a s3

You can still buy reconditioned callipers for these too that will be like brand new.

Plus an S2 is more likely to be 110x4 stud pattern which makes things more interesting !

thanks both for the info. I will keep in mind the offer of the second hand ones if mine are beyond hope.

what else will let me know if it is a series 2 or 3? the reg docs say mk2

Wheels are biggest giveaway. S2\'s had 13" with \'big cross\' type alloys. S3\'s had wider 14" with a polished radial spokey pattern. \'Sonic\' Mazda called them. Most \'84\'s are Series 3.
