FD airpump MOT

Just wondering if not having and airpump on my FD will cause a failure at MOT.

If yopu have no oir pump, you probasblly have no catalic converter = higher emisions = MOT failure - unless you know a "friendlly" MOT tester

Are you running a de-cat?

Yeah is just running pipe to the muffler lol well I guess I better find a cat and an airpump lol.

Well it is listed as a 1992 FD. If I just put the cat back on with the car pass MOT without the air pump?

if the car is an import and under 95 then it does\'nt need it for test just a conventional sniff test dont let any tester say otherwise get him to look in the mot bible that will tell him.:cheers

Yep the car came from Japan. I am also trying to take the car back to the states so I will prob have to get the cat and the airpump hooked up before it goes. Thanks for the info I will be sure to tell them to check out the regs.

Word of caution before you spend much money- the import rules into the states are pretty strict, the US guys don\'t import Jap FDs AFAIK, the US fD\'s hav all sorts of additional emissions crap like pre-cats and exhaust gas recirculation that the japs don\'t have. I\'d speak to guys on RX7club about importing first.

I have spoken with the EPA on the subject and was informed that as long as the car passes the emissions test that it will be ok. I also go a list of mods that need to be done either by the RI or before the car comes to port.
