great job as always Jono.

Where did you get the fans from and how much?  Instaed of using the plastic tie ups i would use very small bolts using same method.  The fan bound to move and with flex/ rubbing + heat it will move the plastic tie up or may even break. just my 2p :)

The bigger issue may be fatigue on the braze joints from the twisting motion of the fan. I destroyed an aluminium rad with a 16in fan !

ashc - the fan you used for your setup looks very much like a PC Chassis type fan, is this the case? Looks like an interesting and fairly simple (and also cheap) mod to perform. Are you still pleased with the results after testing?

I haven\'t tested mine matey, but fan cost 20 deliverd.... bit more than I wanted to spend realy, but not stupid money!!

OMG I think Like Mr RE:A!!! Haha! How shockingly small is that garage?! would have thought the size of the company would have a massive place! or would that be an RE:A outlet?

Don\'t take this the wrong way - kudos for trying something new, but looking at those oil coolers - the bent fins aren\'t going to be helping, I would have used a pair of tweezers to straighten them out, get air flowing through the cooler before adding a fan.

it looks a bit like a pc fan, but it is fully waterproof and industrially-rated, but probably not as tough as jonos bike fan.

stills seems to be helpful, certainly drops the oil temps by a average of 5 degrees when i switch it on. I also left it on all night a week or so ago, forgot to turn it off - and didn\'t seem to drain the batt at all.

good point about the bent fins, i spent ages with a stanley knife blade straightening them as best as i could!

I feel your pain - its such a tedious job - I\'ve yet to do my oil coolers, recently had to do a radiator. On the plus side I now have a set of little tools perfect for the job.

Jono FD3

yea, going to be doing that as soon ast the weather is half decent!! also going to wire the thing up too LOL

i used a spare foglight switch to replace one of the blanks in the centre console, didn\'t bother with a relay just direct 12v off the battery via a 3amp fuse (lowest i could find spare!)

Jono FD3

I\'ve done my usual thing ;) I had a spair fog switch from another FD & doctord the face of it! It now has a symbol of a fan and sits between the fog light switch & the rear demister ;)
Just got to run the wires!!

Here is the switch I doctord for the cooler fan:

One std switch that I have sanded the black off where the logo graphic would be:

And here it is with the new graphic attached and installed in the console:
