You can only get the 8bit model mate as your car is a pre 1996 model. the 16bit pfc plugs will not fit your car.

Neither is better than the other really just made for the different model.

All Apexi ecu\'s are 16bit,it is just the stock ecu\'s that were 8bit then 16bit for differing years.

why does apexi list the fd3s2 for 91-95 and fd3s4 for 91-95 and why do they state that the s2 is the old 8 bit apexi ecu and the s4 is the new 16bit apexi ecu but both work on the 91-95... i believe pip even said there was a switch over and the apexi ecu\'s used to be 8 bit and they are now 16bit

im confused now...so all apexis were 8 bit? but as said before didnt they rerelease the earlier ones to make them 16 bit?

ok the fd power fc model number FD3S2 is for all 1991-1995 models, this is an apexi ecu but its 8 bit...

apexi then released the power FC model number FD3S4 which is also for 1991-1995 cars but is a 16bit ecu... they no longer make the fd3s2 it was replaced with the fd3s4 but if your buying second hand the s2 would also fit your car aswell as the s4!

hope that helps

ok cool that makes alot more sense now. so which one would you reccomend? and what it the difference in tuning capability between the 8 bit and the 16 bit?

MaLicE

as far as i know they are both the same, just the 8bit is no longer made and is replaced with the fd3s4 version and they are easier to source and the commanders are easier to get...

Cheers for all your help mate you have cleared things up alot, im just guna make sure iv got it clear, there were 2 versions made the 8 and the 16 bit. the 8 bit is no longer produced so im better off getting a 16 bit because it will be easier to find and get a commander for.

i hope this is right.

do you know anywhere that i can get one for a decent price?

MaLicE

that is correct i have just txt a partner of a friend who is in japan who normally has stock of power fc\'s to ask if he has one he will get back to me, if he does i shall let you know, other than that nengun is about the cheapest place new mate.

A piece of info I got from Pip was the the 16bit PFCs are a bit more prone to crashing than the 8bit. Anyone got any info on that?

I\'ve got me an 8bit one and need a commander which is a nightmare to get hold of!!
