Just a quick question.... Ive had my FD for just under a year.. and only recently had all the bits done to get it running... had a rebuild from RX motors .. and had some bits done down at powergains.. Kaream is a star btw :)

anyway my problem is this... i take the car out for a spin.. even its its a small journey.. when i park up the engine seems really hot.. and i can hear bubbleing ect.. take the key out walk away .. the temp gage always points to the middle when the car has warmed up normally about 2-3 mins so im guessing thats ok.. when im driving the fans will come on and go off.. but as i say when i turn the key and come away from the car it just seems really hot to me.. the weird thing is if i go back to the car say 10 mins later as soon as i put the key in the fans come on straight away.. is that right?

before i take it back to kaream is there anything i can check .. or is this normal??   the car is a 93 k reg and engine is stock standard..

as you can tell im not very technical minded .. but any info that might help.. or put my mind at rest would be great..
I really want to come to a couple of events but i dont trust the car as it is... or am i just paranoid ??

thanks
Scott

if you have your aircon on that will make the fans spin... get an aftermarket water temp gauge or a power fc as it will give you a much better idea i have oil temp, oil pressure, water temp and boost gauges in my car for an idea how bad the stock instruments are, the stock water temp will show half way, when infact the water and oil are no where near up to temp, oil will be at 30-40 degree\'s which isnt hot enough for it to be thin enough to work as it should!

if your aircon is off and it gets too hot the fans should come on when the engine is off also... but you shouldnt need the key in it to make them run.

Welcome to the world of the hot ass rotary.

As said get an "accurate" water temp gauage, or pfc...... and keep an eye on your water level.

Thanks guys, water level is fine and as i say water temp gage seems to be fine also :) it was just the heat it was pumping out!!! i was not sure if that was normal??

the thing that worried me was after a run id park up and come back after say 10 15 mins .. and as soon as i go to start her the fans come on .. i just found that strange .. any other car ive had the fans might stay on for a while after a run.. then go off.. but  it seems this car is getting hotter when the engine is not running lol

so is this normal then?
sorry for the nooby questions

thanks

Perfectly normal.  When you turn the car off after a run, the water stops circulating around the cooling system - the water that is sitting in the block therefore keeps getting hotter (Easily over 100 degrees, maybe over 110), so as soon as you start the car the fan will come on as they come on whenever the water is 90ish or more - they\'ll then stay on until the temperature is back down under 90whateveritis.

I disagree with MaLicE - the fans don\'t run on the FD unless you\'ve got the ignition key turned.  At least not on the pre-96 cars, I don\'t know after that.
