Can anybody help? I had a bit of a service on tuesday - air filter - oil filter and oil change and everything seemed to be fine but today the car has started to judder a lot and feels like it is going to stall. Ive checked if any of the pipes have come off and cant see anything. Any ideas anyone ????
P.S Its a J reg auto FD3

Clutch maybe?? Ignition timing?? I\'m just drawing straws really! But I\'m sure a roto guru will pop along shortly to ease your troubles!!

I hope so cos Im bricking it. Seems strange that Ive had no problems and as soon as I service it, its starts playing up.

if it was a \'mazda maindealer garage\'. check they put the rite plugs in, as they seem to b a bit thick where im from
sum one will tell u the rite code o u can check them against ure reciept, i had the same prob and found out it was the air thingy that cuts in at idle, which mine had 1 dodgy conection... dont sweat chap:D

Is it okay at high revs?

not a guru either, but my merc did the same at low revs and the problem was the o2 sensor

..mind played up like that toooo(aswell as other stuff)....

...o2 sensor is a good shout...that sorted the idle/stalling issue for my car.

can you tell me where the O2 sensor is? Trouble is you could write what I know about engines on the back of a postage stamp...........Twice:confused:
One more thing, I let it cool down and tried it again and it seems ok while the engine is quite cool but gets worse as it warms up

..i know about the same amount mate...no idea where it is, however i think that the o2 sensor regulates the fuel maybe..and if it\'s fault then the reading aint great..resulting in too much fuel at times then not enough...maybe....

...i\'m sure someone with more coherent knowlegde will correct me.

er... um...   I don\'t know.
Think it\'s a garage job mate

does sound just like my Merc did.  It was okay on startup and allright at high revs (though getting worse until I had it into the dealer.)  Started only cutting out when hot and in nose-tail traffic.  Then started happenning at low speed.  Then got fixed! :)

Search through other threads as I saw something on here recently about a product which helps clean up the sensor.  basically they stop working when covered in crud.

Gregor (caught trying to be technical.)

P.S. Im usually wrong when I try to diagnose faults.  strange that whenever something goes wrong it never seems to be something that has happened to me before...

One more thing- took it out today and it was fine when it was cold but the hotter it got the worse it got. I also noticed that the oil pressure gauge was hardly moving, could it be that the oil that was put in is too thin? I asked the guy that did it for me and he said he used 5-40 mineral oil or at least I think thats what he said he used:confused:

get the lady to a doctor mate .  (oops sorry wrong forum  http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008\' target=\'_blank\'>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_18_5.gif\' border=0>)
seriously though, get the motor to a man that knows.  Your oil pressure guage could be nothing.  Mine is okay so far but I know a lot of the guys have had probelms with those guages sticking or failing...  that could be the extent of the problem.

I think it;s probably time to get it to someone for a health check to put your mind at rest as to what the status is.

In Japan you can get 0W 40 for rotarys I believe, so I don\'t think the oil would be a problem - should be Mineral too! No synthetics!!

Check and make sure that your plug leads have been put on the right way!  I know it sounds crazy but Whites \'helped\' me out a few years ago when I was getting a new second hand rex compression tested, guy points out that leads are on wrong and changes them around.  Drive home it feels even worse, check the leads and hey presto! They are on the wrong plugs!

Give \'em a check mate, its fairly easy to do, just ensure that T and L are matched.
