Quote from: D2BBA;633874Did the guy in S....horpe that I sold it to just run out of funds then guv? Seems a shame he let it go after only 3 months or so, but you look like you\'re going to take good care of her:) one tip is to use brasso wadding to shine those wheel rims. Any other info you need just hola!

Chris

Well I dont think it was the funds that were the problem, he relied on garages to do the mechanical work and I dont think paid much attention to the rest :(. Hes after an S15 now as he changes his cars every few months it seems (his jap car ownership history sounded long from what he said). Brasso wadding eh? Im gonna go see if I can find some, funny how you noticed the wheels arent as shiny in the current pics, they\'ve been neglected too :(.

lol, I think I saw you drive round, very smart Alfa! I actually work for halfords  on the weekends as I\'m a student in bristol. Do you have an Rx too?

rs200tez

Yeah - I have a single turbo:

Next time i\'m out I might pop in and say hi!

Pav

Oh nice! I was soo tempted to go and have a look at that, is it still for sale or are you the new owner?

rs200tez

It\'s still for sale but have a buyer who is going to take it when his car is sold. Finding it hard not to change my mind and keep it - but a Noble M12 GTO is replacing it :-)

Hmm I did worry about that when I sold it, he seemed a bit "green" asking all sorts of "basic" questions even though he mentioned he\'d owned a \'7 before.  Still, at least its gone to a good home now!

With regard to wheel cleaning ive tried all sorts (autoglym, Megs metal polish, wonder wheels etc) and the best value for money is the old skool Brasso.  Im just about to refurb a set of rare splittys for my Porsche and i\'ll be using the same.

Have fun! :)

Any thoughts on future mods?

BTW project Porsche 964 is getting well underway :)

Sorry to hijack the thread but just wanted to know how the new car compares to the RX7?

As a young kid I had a few dream cars that I wanted to one day own, RX7 FD was one, Porsche 911 1988/1990 shape and a TVR Tuscan.

Love the RX7 just wondering if you regret getting the porsche?

Cheers

How do bud,

My Porsche is the 911 (964) that was produced between 1989 and 1994, so slightly out on your ideal model (but not by too much!).

Im having great fun with Porsche ownership and after 4 1/2 years of owning the RX7 its nice to have a change.  The \'7 was that good that I kept her for so long (I normally sell up before three years is out), however I just fancied the change :)

I dont have any regrets so far.  I appreciate that I wont be able to do the same level of DIY with the new car as oppose to the \'7 (not sure if I would want to!) to keep the FSH intact.  Parts will be a few more quid too, but there are a good few specialists and breakers.

The new motor feels a lot more solid on the road.  The build quality seems better.  It was the last of the truly hand-built Porsches (with hand finishing times halving for the 993 model).  The suspension is more forgiving.  I havent fitted coilovers yet (just lowered) so this may change!  The steering feels a lot more to my style and not as point a shoot as the RX7.  Brakes are about the same as a standard RX7.  I feel an upgrade coming on to match my old Project Mu set-up.

Im planning a few simple mods to clean up the look and get the car to how I want it.  Not too many though, as I dont want to spoil the lines of the car!

Any questions just fire them over.  Im not as active on the forum as I was, but I still keep a beady eye out :)
