hi im trying to disable the factory alarm on my fc. im having a starting problem,(no current to solenoid) and have replaced, relay fuses, starter, batt, terminals, ignition switch) was thinking that the starter cut relay may be preventing the current to the solenoid if my alarm has crapped on me. i seen the diagrams but im not a mechanic and cant understand them. can anyone help and advise me as to where the control unit is for the anti theft system, jus want to rule out a few things before i take it to the mechanic. thank you in advance . your help is greatly appreciated guyz. long live rotary\'s.

welcome zoom zoom,enjoy the site.
regretably there has been a long standing policy not to post about disabling alarms as the information could fall into the wrong hands if you know what i mean (not pointed at you personaly) .

First up welcome to MRC,

When you say no power to the solenoid is this the main lead or the small one, if it\'s the small one it may actualy be a ignition lock fault,

"If" it\'s the small one, with the car out of gear, hand brake firmly on and up on good axle stands you should be able to start the car by bridging out between the big and little wires with a small piece of wire.

Either that or if you have power on the big wire, try a tow start as this will tell you if it\'s just the cars starter system or if the car is fully immobilised

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

thank you for your reply, i had a mechanic come look at it. he determined it was the neutral saftey switch or inhibitor switch. does this sound correct. it seemed to me as though the car felt as if it were trying to be started in gear, and not recognizing  it was in park. click and nothing, as saftey protocol will disable the car from starting if it seems as if it is in gear.

Try moving your g/stick from side to side while pushing it little further forward whilest trying to start it.
If its anything like an MX5 auto shifter then the switch at the back of the gear stick sometimes gets a little sticky so the car duznt know its in park.
Also will it also not start in neutral ?

If i remember right the alarm goes through your light/indicator control ECU, its the same one as the hazard, horn etc in the drivers footwell. I will need to study the diagram to see exactly what it does in there. You should also be able to bypass that neutral switch to fool the ECU that it is out of gear. Again I will need to look at the diagram to see if its an earth or +ve that sends the signal as you may just be able to earth it.
